truth about making keys off VIN numbers for you guys

ive been paranoid for a while about that shiet and was going to order a new lock set. well i happened to ask our parts guy about making keys off the VIN numbers. for NISSANS they can only do it for some 93s and all 94 and up. just shedding some light on this, dont know if someone already did.

i've tried to have a master key made for a '93 i owned and Nissan was unable to do it without the keycode (located in MOST gloveboxes)

my glovebox only has the door keycode, the ignition one is blank.

i needed some spares for my 91 and didn't have any keycodes in the glovebox, the parts guy just measured my key and made copies from that.

they are talking about getting keys made for a car you don't already have keys for...of course any key can be copied if you have it in hand...

I got a master key made with my vin. It doesnt open the trunk though.

After 10 years they take the "key using vin code whathaveyou" out of their system. So if you car is 10 years old Nissan cannot make a key for you using the VIN. Honda still can. Had to do it twice for my 90 CRX.

for my 96 nissan the dealer could not do it, i had take the door lock out and have a new key made... i had several copies of the key made after paying out the wahzoo for that...

I bought new ignition cylinder from courtesy nissan and then tore out all of my lock cylinders and had them re-coded to the new ignition key.Plus all of cylinders got new lube and everything works like brand new.Now I have the piece of mind that there are no extra keys floating around.The place I bought the car from is out of of buisness,because of their shady dealings.

The Nazi's had an order or way that they felt was perfect and everything else was inferior. So let's say searching is Aryan and not searching is anything else, let's say Jewish.

So the Jew does things the Jew way then the Nazis come in and say "DUN DUN, DUN, NIEN! JOO CAHN DO JAHT! NIEN! STUPID JEW!" and they will continue to do this until everybody conforms to their way of being, ie Aryan.

Except when you get a brand new cut key, you have to file it down because its cut so perfectly the old pins get stuck and whatnot. I had to file down a brand new key (the shoulder of it, and round some of the peaks a lot) 93 civic
They made the key with vin and it doesn't open the trunk from the inside (below the rear window) but trunk works

Not sure if you need the keycode from inside the glovebox if you have the VIN. At least you don't with Honda.

But you will need to show proof of ownership. So a registration, title, or an insurance card along with a valid photo i.d.. That keeps an Joe Shmoe from breaking into your car, getting the necessary things and getting a key from Nissan to steal your car.
