so i picked up a red top head the other day with complete cams, gears, valves, springs, lifters everything. i currently have a red top that im working on. my question being that the red top i picked up has a different gear on the intake side that connects to the cas, its different from mine its thicker and mines is thin. will i be able to run this with my existing cas or will i need the one that came with the head i bought. heres a couple pics of the the gears the first one is mine that i had originally with the red top head and the second is the one with the new one i bought the other day.

also i tried looking for which style red top i this one is first pic of the head the cleaner one is my old one the second one which is a little dirtier is the new one i purchased. anyone have a idea?

What kind of cams are they? The CAS goes to the exhaust side, not the intake.

I know it goes on the exhaust, there bc 264 cams

Put the CAS on it & check it... As long as the helicals line up and the CAS fits, there 'shouldn't' be a problem.

A quick Google Image search yielded a bunch on BC exhaust cams installed that look identically geared.

my concern isnt the cam its the gear that goes to the cas off the cam gear. in the picture if shows a thick on and the other it shows the thin one. my question is, is there more then one cas for a red top and can i run the one i have.

They are interchangeable amongst all CAS's and Cam Gear CAS drive teeth.

So slap it together and do some burnouts :D

Nice.. You wouldn't happen to know why they came out with two styles? Just for price of mind. Also you wouldn't happen to know which model red top those two heads are? Cody ace
