Hey everyone... I recently bought my first Z, a '91 300zx NA. I'm in the process of eliminating my terrible fuel leak issue, and I realized that I have two fuel filters, and the car originally only came with one. Can anyone please shed some light onto why the previous owner would do this? It's two filters in sequence.

Below are pictures...

Please note that I was working on my fuel leak, so the throttle body cover was taken off...
The car has it's quirks, but it runs great, and handles like a dream. And with only 94k miles on it, with the original owner taking great care of it, I see it lasting a long time and want to get these problems resolved.

Please let me know if you have any insight on the whole two filter setup... I don't really see it hurting anything, but I don't see it helping much either.

they look like the same exact filter.

on a CARB'ed engine, it isnt uncommon to see 2 filters. usually one before and one after the fuel pump. one will be a high flowing pre filter, and the other will be used to catch finer items.

but (what looks like) the same exact filters next to each other and inline like that, thats dumb.

Right, that's exactly what I was thinking... I'll probably just buy a new filter and a new piece of hose.

I just thought I would bring it up here before I did that, just in case there was a logical reason for it.
