Hello dear forum members,
How many of you are using a crank scraper?
Did it make any noticeable difference?
Have you had any issues with it?

Since my oil pans are off, I am considering purchasing one, from here of course:
Ishihara-Johnson Crank Scrapers (http://www.crank-scrapers.com)

However, I am curious if it really does make any significant difference, especially now that everyone is using synthetic oils.
I also came across a couple threads where people had fitment issues with them, though those were all non-Nissan engines.

In the end, I will probably buy one anyway, if nothing else at least to slightly strengthen the bottom end, though I would still like to hear any input on them.

I dont have any personal experience with them but those that I do know of and reviews/ videos that I have seen them used in all had positive results. especially with the KA.

What motor?

SR20VE. They do not come with a girdle, so I thought if nothing else the crank scraper may toughen up the bottom end a bit.
Though I enjoy any mod that makes a motor slightly faster and more efficient at the same time.

What motor?

An SR has main bearings that are set deep in the block and I really don't think you would see a large benefit from a crank scraper. That is just my personal opinion from rebuilding mine though.

ive considered ordering one from there for my datsun rebuild. even if it doesnt help by much, its inexpensive

I keeps more oil on your oil pan, for the pick up,instead of splashing every where,

I've had mine (from IJ) forever now. No harmful side effects, just pure goodness. Almost 30k miles, many on track on my backyard built engine :D

It did require some fitment creativity, but nothing over the top.

ran their teflon scraper in a few of my BMW m20's, loved em. oil pressure was much more stable through higher-g corners.

i was under the impression that the stock sr20det baffle was sufficient enough, but i would like to hear some feed back from users with experience.

As above I've had no issues with plenty of track miles. Never had oil pressure issues, temps were kept in check etc etc. I'd like to think much of the reliability (in regard to oil control) is due to the scraper/windage tray)

We have moved on from ford 1920 design. You might need to check the oiling system of the engines you are talking about.

Crank scrapers are great. They keep oil from getting wrapped around the crank, keeping more oil in the pan for better oil pressure stability and consumption. Also helps increase crank velocity. Smokey Yunick put a camera in a small block and recorded windage of up to 8ft at times. Thats and 8ft sling of oil wrapping around your crank, your engine could be using.

And those guys know what there talking about and make really good scrapers. There actually right up the road from me.

I have one of their scraper/windage trays that moubt inside the gridle on my DET bottomend. I can't say I noticed anything personally, but I'm sure it kept my engine happy.
