I just bought the zaino, and some scratch X. I haven't tried it yet, but Ill report back when I do. In the original question why did you say it must not be zaino? Has anyone here used zaino on an older car w/bad results?

You'll need to unbolt the motor mounts.. jack up the engine and tranny. Grab a 14mm socket (deep well) and go to...
Wait.. Carwash questions in the tech section? Are you off your nut?

I've been using Meguiars new stuff, nxt generation. It's expensive($17), but it is worth it.

hey hey! car detailing talk is as technical as engine talk!

i hear zaino is VERY nice, but requires A LOT of coats(i hear people put on as many as 6 or more) and time. i don't know how much cause i've never touched the product before, but that's just what i hear.

even though i use the 3 bottle system + gold class, i'm not satisfied! haha.. should i have claybared the car before doing all this? should i have dawned, then claybared, my car before doing this? i'm following through the zaino user's steps as suggestions, but i don't know if it will work the same with meguiar's since the 3 step system ends in carnuba wax, in exception for the gold class that uses polymer wax(like zaino). i have a lot of white specks on my black s14 on the hood.

angrytyrant, do you see any difference in that stuff compared to whatever you had before?

you need a rotary buffer to get the white spots out. Of course you'll also need to know how to use one. Improperly used, and *BAM*.. no more paint..

The best wax you can get is pure 100% carnuba wax. All the wax's on the market are not 100% carnuba. For the best protection 100$ is the best. I know of a awesome wax that is made for motorcycles and costs 20 for a small jar but its the best wax out there. I wax my cars every week and I wouldnt use anything other than 100 percent pure carnuba wax. Meguiars products also are good, I use these products for my detailing.

I typically use Mother's products, their cleaner wax about every 3 months and the clay bar kit once a year (clay bars are awesome). Seems to do a very good job.

I have a bottle of griot's hand polish but so far have not seen big results (my car really didn't have much to clean anyway).

The other trick is to use high quality cotton towels.

Oh, on the inside, I use one of those static brush wands as seen on TV. I never would have, but for some reason my mom bought the three piece set several years ago, and the medium one was just sitting out in the garage so I figured (with a lot of skepticism) it was worth a try, and to my surrpise it does a pretty good job of grabbing dust off the dash (though I think it makes the dash attract dust more quickly as well).

if you used 100% carnuba you would be rubbing a brick of shit on your car the most carnuba a wax can use and have it be possible to remove in paste form is around 30%

burn...

any good thoughts about polymer waxes? isn't meguiar's gold class polymer(as said earlier)? cause that shit looks bangin compared to carnuba. oh yeah, are carnuba's abrasive compared to polymer which is non-abrasive?
so new to this... bound to get flamed

i dont pay more than $5 for wax, I have a metal tin of turtle wax original thats about 4 or 5 years old. In the spring, I buff the car, use a clearcoat compound and a few coats of turtle on top of that, touching it up every sunday afternoon. Looks great.

I did experiment with that simonize spray on wipe off stuff too, it works fantastic, lasts fairly long too.

simonize? is that applicable wet? I've tried "fastwax" by rainx...CRAP CRAP CRAP....and my granddad put a little of the eagle one spray on stuff, and that looked nice but I haven't tried any other sprays ons...

For a regular wax job I usually use mothers cleaner (carnuba) wax

The local detailing shop did mine with megauirs(don't know what, wasn't as shiny as mothers but laster hella longer and did better in the rain

For the best shine try wet sanding the clear coat and then buffing. It's a lot of work but worth it.

100% carnuba wax isnt in a brick form, it is a paste wax like all the other was but is made of pure carnuba. I can find the site that sells it if you dont beleive me.
