Alright guys I picked up an s14 sr20 blacktop. The car runs very rich at low throttle and as soon as jump into the gas it leans out and breaks up.

I have a black wc ecu (which is supposed to have a different style maf) but the harness was rewired to the other plug. My question might be considered dumb, but would having the other maf with the black wc ecu cause a problem???

Some things I have done:
Made sure ecu is getting full power
Swapped out for another maf I know is good
Unloomed and double checked the wiring for the maf
Made sure no injectors were getting stuck open
Replaced all vaccum lines and eliminated any boost leaks
Checked all grounds.

You can try hooking up a fuel pressure gauge to make sure that your fuel pressure is within factory specs. On my s14 sr when i turned the fuel pressure up too high it seemed to have the same symptoms that you are having. I adjusted the fuel pressure down to 35 psi from the 45 psi that i had it at and it ran a lot better. Hope this helps good luck.

My bro's S14 with a Zenki S14 SR, had a similar issue. i would check around the Crank Angle Sensor and around socket/plug connection and wiring.wiggle around each sensor/wiring connection and see the diffrence. some Wiring harness has corrosion and cause the ECU to act wrong. Most engine swaps had a bad engine harness.

Wait, so you're not using the right MAFS? There's your problem.

one of the factors yes.....

22680-69F00 = S14 Zenki (all s14 are NOT interchangeable)
22680-69F01 = S14 Kouki (all s14 are NOT interchangeable).

Unless your ecu is tuned to use that MAFS you're using, regardless if it's rewired to plug in, you need to use the correct MAFS. If it is tuned for it, check intercooler couplers to make sure they are on good and tight. Bogging on gas sounds like a boost leak to me.

The previous owner wired in the other maf and claimed to not have issues which brought up my question because I wasn't sure if he was telling the truth. I thought maybe the mafs were the same, just required a different plug. I've checked all couplers, replaced all vacuum lines and even swapped intercoolers to a new one I had laying around.
