i want to ask if anyone knows here about replacing old valves. do you need to send it to a machine shop to put in new oem valves or u dont have to?
its for my yota. exhaust valves were badly corroded because from oil leaking from the valve stem seals. i dont know if i need to send it to a machine to shop to get them properly seated.
let me know engine gurus thanks.
pls dont post if you dont have the experience. save me the bullshit

I did when I had to replace two bent valves in my RB, it's not something I'd trust doing myself (which is a very short list) and don't have the specific tools for it. I think it cost me $40 or $50 to have all the valves checked, the two bent ones replaced, and all new stem seals replaced.

no you don't have to. unless the valve guides are cracked.
replacing valves are easy ( when the head is off )

the key word is "get them properly seated". if you want a good seal between the valve and the seat, yes, you do need to have a machine shop do it. but if you want to do it yourself, you can seat them by using lapping compound. rocker arm actuated valves are pretty easy to change, but if you have a dohc Toyota engine, it can get pretty hard. change the valve stem seals while you`re at it.

Height needs to be measured and cut as needed. Check FSM for valve seating size to make sure you don't need head machined.
to OrangeVirus, yes anyone can replace them. But how many know of doing the job right? Checking height? Valve seats?

Yes valve stem seals is the main reason why i have to pull all the valves and inspect them. I already replaced them.
Engine valvetrain set up is same as the ka24e but uses a push rod like domestics. 3yec is the engine

I would like to know how to replace valves without taking the head off?

You can pretty much just disregard anything that clown says, there's a reason he got lit up in that thread he made.

3yec, is that a mini van engine? if it is, should be simple enough if you have the tools to do a proper do it yourself valve job. i would use an electric drill to lap the valves. cut one of the old valve stem and chuck it on a drill and use a vacuum hose to connect to the new valve stem and lap away. a reversible drill would be even better so you can lap the valves counter clock wise and clock wise. make sure you keep the the valves and guides lubricated so you don`t mess up the new stem seals. and since it has rocker arms, you don`t have to worry about valve stem height, just adjust the valve lash to specs.

how do you adjust the last with push rod?
