So i made a friend a bunch of stickers for his shop Which is about 45 minutes away, As i wouldn't have time to get out that way for a few days. I went to the post office sent them out everything was good. He messaged me today asking if i sent them as he never got them. I ran the tracking number and shows its someplace in New York, Even though the package wasn't supposed to leave Wisconsin.

I'm going to call their tracking number first thing in the morning, but i'm just wondering what the next step would be? Am i out what i sent? or will they deliver it since it's at a post office in New York?

Thanks.

It is possible it got re-routed by mistake.

I've had a package that was supposed to go from NY-> NJ but it ended up going from NY->OH->NY->NJ.

Unless you purchased insurance with the package, there's nothing you can do. Just hope that it got re-routed by mistake and constantly check updates. Calling them is useless as they see the exact same screen as you do when you pull up the tracking information on their website.

If you're 100% confident that you put in the right address (zip code as well), then it should get to the correct address. If you fudged on the zip code, keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Does it say it has been delivered already, or is it just at a USPS facility in New York?
Sometimes they accidentally send mail elsewhere. It has happened to me a few times, but so far it always ended up at the correct destination, albeit with a delay.
I am hoping the postman would not be dumb enough to leave mail at a completely different address.

Call the number or if you have the time go to the PO you sent it from and talk to the PM.

sometimes it gets re-routed to wrong places. usually if the bar code is scratched, sorted into the wrong pile, or someone reads the zip code wrong.

now if the status says " delivered" you're pretty much screwed.

Usps are crappy now days. Sent a package to a member on her since dec 28 2012, package still not delivered. He's in cali and am in TN, talked to them many times they keep replying and saying 'you should of had it insured' everytime I use their service now I get insurance.

Usps are crappy now days..

lol this is so true it isn't even funny. I was at the post office today and was waiting in line for over an hour .. about 10 people ahead of me... ONE person working at the kiosk/desk and the computers were "having issues" and weren't working..
then to top it off, 2 people from me.. the lady goes to the desk.. then complains for over 15 minutes about the price to ship her package! just back and forth blah blah blah

I swear to god this lady said " How can my package cost 37$ to ship I waited in line for over an hour!"

I always use usps. Never had a problem. Always cheapest too.

not around here they aren't anymore.. as of a week ago my post office got rid of "parcel post" packages.. which were the cheapest..

now it's first class or priority ONLY.

I sen't a box about the same size as a flat rate *medium* and it costed me like 45$... sucks turbo's can't fit in flat rate boxes..

You wont be able to anything for at least 30 days. USPS wont lift a damn finger until then. 99% of the packages that are re-routed find there destination before then and customer service knows this. After the 30 days then they will escalate your ticket and start earning their paycheck to get you your package found.

Good luck

Standard post is an option. It also has tracking on it. I always ship standard or priority anyways.

Even then, they aren't very willing to resolve any sort of problems.

OP, just hope it makes it where it was supposed to go, and if it doesn't and the package wasn't insured they'll more or less tell you that you're shit out of luck.

you know USPS is really getting shitty when :
They just announced on the news this morning that USPS will no longer doing Saturday mail - ( later this year )

and on a NORMAL day, you get your mail around 7-7:30PM....yeah.. that is when I NORMALLY get my mail.. sometimes as late as 10pm.

USPS is a joke their "tracking" is meaningless.

They don't have a system that links the address that the parcel is going to with the tracking number.

If you wanted to scam someone what you do is sell something. Then ship an empty package with no return address to somebody in the same zip code. The tracking will show that it was delivered in that zip code. There is no way to verify WHERE in that zip code it was delivered too.

USPS tracking is USELESS!

Yes I've never got packages, and yes my neighbors have gotten packages that claimed were delivered. Luckily my neighbor was able to look my phone number up and give me the package.

I called USPS "help" Number the person had no reason as to why it's there. Said they would look into it and contact me back....

Surprise surprise if i was holding my breath i'd be dead.

I feel like USPS always does a better job than UPS, but something definitely seems wrong. Hopefully they figure it out for you.

After dealing with only USPS for the 4 yrs I was stationed overseas, I would be happy if they go bankrupt and go the fuck away. Waste of my fucking tax money if you ask me...

USPS sucks, but it's the cheapest.

employees there get paid up to $20/hour with full benefits... but 95% of them are lazy as fuk.

as for your package, next time tape over the address when you write it on there. so it doesn't smear or anything when people touch it, or when it gets wet.

the same thing happened with the package you sent me (unless this is me you are referring to, which i live in MA not CA)

i will never use usps for anything besides regular mail.
