Full race gt3076 turbine housing question

my friend is going to upgrade his gt3076 to a GTX turbo but he is keeping the turbine housing. i am buying the gt3076 from him and i want to know if any t3 turbine housing will fit. i did some research but the manufacturers only prints the specs on their turbos. i don`t have the turbo yet but i want to buy a turbine housing already. i don`t really want to spend $250 for a turbine housing, and used t3 housings can be had for a lot less. thanks for any POSITIVE inputs or information.

I just installed a GTX3076R and have a spare single scroll housing, .82 AR T3.

GT28 housings won't fit. GT30 housings are interchangeable (GT3071/GT3076 or GTX equivalents).

If you have a single scroll manifold you can run either a single scroll or divided housing. If you have a twin scroll / divided manifold you only want to run a divided housing.

Single scroll housings come in .63AR / .82AR / 1.06 AR, twin scroll are .82AR and 1.06AR but the .82AR twin scroll flows closer to a .63 because the divider takes up space in the housing. Each of the twin scroll manifolds flows near the next size down single scroll.

The .63AR can suffer from compressor surge up top but will spool up fast, the .82AR is going to spool up400 to 500rpm later but will add maybe 50rwhp up top (which you will loose in midrange) and the 1.06AR gains even more topend and spools very late. PM me if you want more info--I have recently done a lot of research on this.

Oh I should have mentioned that my spare .82AR housing is T3 flange. I am actually running a .63AR T4 single scroll on my full race manifold, with 3" full race v-band downpipe and 4 inch intake with AFEpower 1100+CFM air filter.

thanks for the informative reply. i don`t have a manifold yet because he just mentioned it today. also, i found a used t3 turbine housing with a .63 a/r. i like the .63 a/r on my last 2.4 litter engines. the seller did not give any specs on the turbine housing other than it`s a t3 and .63a/r. the manifold i`m gonna have built will be single scroll(much cheaper than a twin scroll), and will have short runners. do you think the t3 turbine would work on the gt3076 that my friend have? also im not worried about the extra 50 hp up top that a bigger a/r would give me because i`m sticking with the stock cams on a ka24de. it will have forge 20 over bore pistons with I beam rods, head studs, 620cc injectors(i have left over from a previous build), stock compression, aeromotive fuel pump, and an evo xiii stock intercooler. looking for 350whp on e85. the s2k that the turbo is on right now makes 580whp.

If it is a .63AR then it is a single scroll, but could be either a T3 or T4 Flange. There is a sizable difference between the T3 and T4 flanges.

Twin scroll manifolds are more expensive but will spin up faster because they channel exhaust flow so that the pulses don't interfere with each other in the collector. If you go twin scroll you will have two wastegates and 2 dump pipes, which will cost more, and require a little extra work in setting them up for boost control.

Twin scroll can gain you 300 to 500 rpm of quicker spool but it isn't going to gain you anything other than quicker responsiveness.

For a street car, a .63AR single scroll will spool up as fast as possible. The GT3076R isn't the fastest spooling turbo but with a .63AR it will be about as good as it gets (without going to a GTX billet wheel).

350whp should be totally doable, but if it is only a KA24de I would think that a GT3071R .63AR would be a much more reasonable fit for your power goals.

the turbine housing i found is a t3. so it should fit? and the 3076 is a deal i could not pass up on. i don`t mind making more power, lol.

T3 will fit on a T3 manifold. Avoid log manifolds if you can, since they are the worst design relative to the exhaust pulses opposing each other; tubular equal length manifolds are better. The shorter the runners, the faster it will spool. Thinner manifolds will crack in time especially if there is no form of bracing.

my friends at ASC are making the manifold out of 1/8 inch stainless steel. its not gonna be a log style, more like a shorty header style. what i really want to know is WILL the t3 turbine housing i found FIT the gt3076 i am buying from my friend? he is keeping the turbine housing that came with the gt3076. that is why i`m asking about the turbine housing because i don`t have one. thanks for all of your input by the way.

any GT30XX housing will fit any GT30XX turbo. Any GT28XX or GT35XX will not fit. You can buy T25, T3 and T4 housings to fit a GT3076

To answer your question specifically; NOT every T3 housing will fit; only those built for a GT30 turbo.
