this was posted on a local msg board today:

"Just got back from the mall and saw I sign out front of FYE music and video....

PRE-ORDER FAST AND FURIOUS ON DVD AND RECIEVE A FREE NOS EMBLEM STICKER FOR YOUR CAR

...and sure enough if they didn't have the classic NOS sticker...right on the sign =) It's a wonderful life!
and everyone better watch out in a couple of weeks...cause about 30,000 rice boys are going to "magically" own NOS come 1/2/02"

man, i can't believe they're gonna do that. that just messes up our reputation, at least around here. 2 many ppl say hondas n nissans r in the same category since they're all "imports." i would steal all those nos stickers n put them on everybodys car that's ever talked sh*t about mine.

One movie I've never seen and don't plan on seeing. . .

all of the kids i've spoken to about this movie cannot identify the skyline or 240sx, just as "that red car the chick drove" or "the yellow car that guy had", nor can they even identify any of them as nissans.

one kid i spoke to, he was talking about how the rx7 (no mention of fd3s, or even 3rd gen) had twin turbo system, but as soon as i mentioned rotary engines, he was beyond lost and just tried to change the subject. he also seemed to think that the "2000" (what they call the s2000 in the movie) was a V-4 and is front wheel drive like "all other hondas", which is "better anyway". im telling you, this movie has simply done more bad that good.

i love talking about rx7 to people because as soon as the get into talking about it i say something about the rotary and there lost f & f causes problems for people who think they are fast, i talk to some stupid people about cars and its hystrical to see them make fools of themselves, something else i think is great is when your having an educated conversation with a person about cars and some idiot just chimes in with incorrect knowledge. yesterday m in english im talking about a 300zx, and this kid turns around and asked, correction told me my car was v4

f & f really did do a lot more harm than good... and the plot was crap anyway. waste of time.

however... it has given us all something funny to laugh at when stupid kids try to talk shit, and have their facts all wrong... thats the best. correcting the little punks i mean... brings a smile to my face.

i hate that movie now. i thought it sucked in the first place except i liked the race scenes. ok, before my sister says she wanted an eclipse, she's never seen the movie, eclipses look nice, no big deal. she had no plans of fixing up a car because it's not her thing. then the other night she's telling me and my friend she wants a civic, my friend hates hondas with a passion (has a piss on honda sticker on his Z) he says jokingly to my sister, oh going to get some coilovers and some enkei rims and a fart muffler? she's like what? (not knowing a word he said except the muffler). she said i don't know my friend has a supra and it's cool (probably NA) and he said i should get a lowered black civic, and i think that's what i want, like those civic in the movie.

i'm standing there stunned. she drives a corolla, she wanted an plain eclipse, and now she wants to fix up a 95 civic because they're 'cool'. adding fuel to the fire, i said let me guess, you're talking about the cars on fast n furious! and she said yeah! that's the movie! me and my friend couldn't stop laughing. he said, i knew you were trendy but this BAD! i had to add more fuel to the fire and say are you getting windshield washer lights and a bright orange faceplate and glowing antenna for your cell phone and drive gangsta style. we kept teasing her bad but it we were all laughing. i don't care if she fixes up a civic, but i'll be damned if it turns to rice, i'll keep her in check.

I have to say that I liked the movie because I didn't take it at all seriously. I hate the effect it's having on people though.

yeah, same here...plus, on the optomistic side, yeah, most of the f&f freaks will turn to what is IMO bad taste, but there will be some who will see the light, and more good imports=more fun for us.

Yeah, let me add my disgust for NOS bullshit, and the fact that that movie had big enough holes in the plot to drivea semi through. The racing sequences weren't even that good. Gone in 60 seconds (new one) was still somewhat cheesy, but at least had decent chase sequences and a semi-believable plot line.

Look at Initial D... it is single handedly giving the Trueno a comeback. The only difference is that that show is like the best ever, even though it is cheesy. I love it. But movies can have huge impacts... I have a friend who is in love with the movie taxi, and taxi 2... (french all evo's in it) and it sucked worse than f&f... at least gimme a show where it is full racing like Initial D... I want them to make a live action movie of that. The races were to fast in the movie, and I wanted a real race scene, a chase, ala blues brothers or white line fever. That would rock ass.

haha YES! power to you!
hahaha all these movies trying ot get a plot and crap
initial d's just like racing every 2 episodes with the craziest plots
oh no, this guy's defeated, but less than a week later, the second place guy in the clan comes, and he just HAPPENS to drive a totally diff type of car (ff in his case) an d wants to do gumtape deathmatch! hahahaha

PS I NEED Stage 1 - EPISODE 14!! SOMEONE PLZ GIMME

Hey, I know that F&F wasn't real, didn't depict the "real" street racing scene, etc. But Hey, it was a MOVIE!! Am I the only one that can go to a movie and realize that reality is out the door and just enjoy the #### thing?

Yes, I enjoyed the movie. I like Vin Diesel, and there were some sweet ass cars. And no, I couldn't ID the Skyline or the 240 when i first saw it, but it is the reason I am doing stuff to my car. Good stuff. Not 10 ft tall spoilers and a NOPI sticker.

The movie brought in some stupid people. But if they go out and spend money, even a little bit, at a local speed shop just to say they did, so what. It's improving the economy of the industry. Who gives a rat's ass if they don't know what they are talking about?

Even though the movie had more mistakes than an abortion clinic, I still enjoyed it. I will probably order it, and if they offer me a NOS sticker, I will just put it on my toolbox right next to the ones that NOS gave me when I bought my kit.

Ya wellll, I have to admit that i saw that movie 4 times the weekend it came out!! And it is basically the whole reason i got into imports. Actually, before i saw that movie i was such a die hard american made v8 power man u couldn't give me no p.o.s. jap crap car. LOL but F & F was also the 1st time i had ever seen nething like that. No ricers here in alabama just rustangs and cowmaros.

hey hey, american cars are kinda cool, vettes and stangs are the shit.
That movie did inspire most of us though. I really loved it too, but I just went once so that when it came out on DVD I can experience it all over again.
Until then, it is straight gone in 60 secs(2000)
Hey, anybody know of any good car movies to watch besides GI60S?

12-12-2001, 03:17 PM
you could watch bullit. steve mcqueen driving like a crazyman in a mach 3, he loses 28 hubcaps in a single scene.

if Rice and Ridiculous brought you into the whole import thing and you're actually taking the time to learn about the cars and everything, then good for you, i guess its done something good, but i cant say the same for the rest of the people i've spoken to about it

onebadm5
12-12-2001, 03:26 PM
actually, it wasnt a mach 3. mach 3 is a concept that came out of Special Vehicles Engineering in the 90's. your probably referring to mach 1, which was first introduced in 1969.

it wasnt a mach 1 either. actually, they used 2 '68 mustang fastbacks 390's, one with the GT equipment group, and one without. the GT's was debaged, but u can still tell the difference cause it had a different rear valance. the car was painted highland green and shod in AR Torq Thrust D's. Oh yeah!

the bad guys used a '68 charger with a 440ci V8.

all i can say is the 12 minute chase scene in bullitt is by far the greatest in motion picture history. it took 2 weeks to shoot. it was shot in city streets in san fran.

ok man you know way too much about this oh well it was an awesome scene and worth learnig about. my knowledge of mustangs and my memory arent exactly the greatest so i tend to get things like this mixed up alot.

hopeflly i got the # of flying hubcaps right though...i know it was 20 something, pretty sure it was 28?

onebadm5
12-12-2001, 04:03 PM
i never counted the number of hubcaps

i got bullitt on DVD, whenever i'm down, i pop it in, go to the chase scene, and watch it. that brings me right back up.

Non's car was only in a quick scene at drag wars. You see it taking off from the start during the panning overview shot. The car the girl drove was a turbo KA. I heard the owner sold the chassis and kept the engine since they resprayed the car badly for the movie.
