got a test today and failed. passed everything except CO% max .44
measured .50 (at 25mph)
HC max.88 measured.88(the limit)
passed everything at15mph.
anyone know what i can do to fix that?
i'm going to replace pvc hope it helps.
car is maintained new plugs, wires, air, oil, gas filters, seafomed, basically stock.
AIV is removed.
mpg's 20street 25hwy.
or should i just go to vatozone and get one of those guaranteed to pass bottles.

I just went through the rounds with my car and smogging it.
When was the last time you checked your o2 sensor?
Have you checked your timing? Can you advance it any?
My HCs went to like nothing when I changed the cat. How old is your cat?

O2 sensor a year old.
Timing is 21
The cat never changed.
smog guy said it's running rich.

clean your mass air flow sensor and replace oxygen sensor, also look at the whole ignition system(wires, plugs, cap and rotor). replace anything that is questionable.

I'm pretty sure you'll pass if you use a little bit of ethanol, you're pretty close. Your cat is probably not too great either. Get it nice and hot before the test, dont shut the car off.

so, i was thinking of adjusting the timing back to 20. i would just have to adjust the distributor back anticlockwise a little bit and that would be it ?
if i was running rich should'nt i get a code on the ECU? it's 55.
so far i have cleaned MAF,air filter, new cap n rotor.
does PAIR valve reduce or increase emissions?
(currently disconnected)
Plugs look good.(white)
no smoke out the tailpipe.
I don't smell any gas.

If you can advance the timing within smog specs do it.
It sounds like your cat probably bit the bullet and needs to be replaced.

I did that ECU diagnostic mode2 with engine on.
2k rpm, light does go on off 5x within 10sec.
i read a little of the FSM says it's O2 sensor monitor for fuel
light on=lean.
light off= rich.
anyone got more info on this test?
