View Full Version : Buying a car out-of-state QUESTIONS
I'm located in San Diego, CA. But I'm extremely interested in buying a 240sx from a private seller located in Arizona. Does anyone know the process to get the car registered with california plates? Do I have to re-smog the car in California? If anyone has done this that can help me with any info, I'd greatly appreciate it.

i bought one from florida and i'm in norcal.
1. shipping unless your'e willing to drive it yourself, should be a few hundred dollars.(get many quotes and research into shipping vechiles, they WILL hold and extend your vechiles ETA(estimated time of arrival) to you...first hand experience)unless you drive it yourself...probably would be a good option save money in shipping it...
2. re-smog the car if you don't have any repairs to do. (i had to retest twice after all the repairs on my car, it failed once)
3. registration within 10 days, will be a 200-300 dollars (i think...maybe more. registered mine for about 350 for a 95 year) follow link for more information and forms for dmv

4. drive....unless you have an sr20 or rb swap.....if that's the case then good luck in registering and passing smog....cause you won't..welll.....maybee...use search function...to get details..
