So I had a huge difference in my torque numbers when I switched setups and I think it's pretty weird. My last setup on my sr was a t2 glange 3071r .82ar internally gated and made 430/365 at 22psi. Now I have a precision 5558 .63 ar external gate and switched to a t3 flange and it made 420/280ish at 17psi. Anyone know why there was such a huge drop in torque?

my guess and it's only a GUESS would be because it's a lower pressure which might mean lower air velocity. I am assuming the 5558 is a bigger turbo so its pushing more volume at a slower air speed into the chambers.

Both setups tuned on nistune at ill garage, idk after I change up some things im taking it back and I'll see what happens. The 5558 is just a little larger but the biggest difference between the two turbos is the turbine housing

you should ask if they changed the timing at all

I have seen this happen alot with the perssion turbos. not really sure why...

Pressure acts like a displacement multiplier, and torque depends on displacement. Assuming mapping is done correctly, your difference is there. Power being torque x rpm, it just means your new setup produces less torque, but keeps producing it higher in the revs, while your previous setup did produce low down torque and then fell over at higher revs.

well all torque curves meet hp curves at what.. 5250 rpm? 5750? so what he is saying makes sense.

The new setup spoils quicker an makes power faster than my last once which was pretty laggy. Both setups kept making power at redline and would've kept going so neither ran out of power. So techinically it would make torque lowers as well right? The pressure point makes sense though, maybe I'll also bump it up a few psi and see what happens

dyno sheets so we can nit pick. giving xxx/xxx numbers is like saying my car was white but now its pink, what happened?
