so just recently put an rb in my s13 coupe and been having problems with the tps. when its plugged in the car will randomly kinda lose power or it feels like its not getting enough gas or something. but when i unplug the tps it runs fine and if i drive it around it doesnt do it. And ideas why that would happen? or what else i should check? i've already unplugged the maf sensor and the car does die when i do that and i have swapped the tps with another one and still same problem.

Would you happen to be using the wiring specialties harness?

Yes I am. Is there a common issue with it?

Not that i know of. Did you try switching the tps connectors that are on the harness? Ive heard 50/50 about that though. Ive heard it work for some people, and not others. Get a volt meter on it and see what its doing.

if it runs perfect with out tps plugged in id just keep it unplugged or does it ideal diff mayne wires in harness are messed up or how the tps is angle might be off just me guessing

Are you talking about switching the wires around? Cause I know we had to switch the original plug from the harness we got from wiring specialties from one off the rb25 harness. It was just a bit off to where it wouldn't plug in.

It does idle weird some times and it kills gas like nothing but I'm not really sure if its just cause its just me going from a ka to rb. But I'm guessing not having the tps plugged in doesn't help with getting the most out my gas. And I was told that the tps was self adjusting
But I'm really not to sure I'm new to this rb stuff.

No. There should be 2 connectors for the tps sensor on the harness itself. A brown one and a grey one. Get a volt meter and see wtf that thing is doing. If it reads fine theres an issue somewhere else. with my rb, every problem i have discises itself and acts like a different problem. Welcome to RB ownership

Wasn't in Dixon. But yeah I was told by a couple ppl that the tps was self adjusting I really don't know if it is or not but just going off of what they told me.

if you have a multimeter ... back probe your 5v reverence and see if its around .5v at rest and around 4.5v at WOT .. move the TPS slowly looking for a voltage drop some where in between could have a bad coil on your tps
also had this same problem with a sr20 took the MAF plug out cleaned it put electric grease in it and never had the problem again.... im still saying its a MAF issue ...

I ended up buying a new tps after trying to set the old one and it not keeping the settings or working properly. The car runs way better now and it's no longer an issue. But I did check a bunch of other things.
