Hey guys, been on here for a long time. ive had my S14 since i was 16 and learned all the ways to not build a car. i decided to restart from the ground up and do a total teardown for the 2013 season. i am long into the build and i am doing 95% of the work myself so its hard to take pictures of everything but ill do my best. this car will be my track slut! ill shut up and get onto the pictures
i bought the car bone stock this picture was about a year ago. it was a stock sr20 with a holset, coils, and rotas. i thought i was the coolest kid in town.

also picked up a plasma cutter so i can easily get the passanger side tub done and make life easy

i decided to leave the motor on the stand and drop the car down as to not scratch the paint. if anyone decided to do this, i had to pull the turbo and throttle body off.

Wow, nice progress, Just been lurking on this one for a little bit. How is that hi-mount held in place, if you happen to have pictures? In my opinion, that white valve cover kinda throws off the engine bay tho. Maybe a wrinkle black might look a smidge better, but what do I know, my bay is still bare metal with old paint in places I'm too lazy to sand down. Overall, it's a nice project, very very nice.

It has two tabs on the side of the intercooler and has two. Bolt holes on top. It was a pain in the ass to get it in and not scratch the paint. And yes the valve cover looks off now. But only because the car isn't painted pearl white yet (: I have another valve cover that I will be getting AN fittings welded too for my catch can setup and powder coating that one. This one is just spray paint. But thanks for the kind words!

I really haven't a clue. At least 400. Closest set up I could find to mine with a dyno sheet out down 550. I'm not too concerned about power. It will just be a safe set up.

It's 2k primer. Yes it's out of a can it like $16 a can. I used 3 cans. It's easy to paint over. That's why it's so expensive. The reactions we had we due to too much activator in the basecoat

It's one I had custom made by a guy that does industrial plumbing. Most of the kits you buy barely thread into the pump, which is idiotic. He matched all the oem fittings and I just gave him the length I needed. My shop has them in stock for KA and this was our first sr setup

yeah just cut it in half, rounded the tops by the strut tower and they fit great. life was made easy with the plasma cutter however. if i ever had to do it again, i would NEVER do it without that tool.

yes it was kyles, the outside of the car is fantastic. wiring wise is another story.... all new harnesses are being ordered for it, they are beyond repair. and the exhaust fell off by the turbo. the car still needs mad love, and it will get it for sure when Jake and I are around. thanks dude!

So all your fuel parts (fuel rail, filters, and regulator) have -8 inlets and outlets? Only reason I ask is because I am piecing together my fuel set up and it either has -10, -8, and or -6 inlets and outlets, so I figured I would use reducers so I can use once size line. For example, fuel rail has -6 inlets, so use a -6 to -8 adapter so you can run a -8 fuel line.

Yeah i ran into that issue but just bought all new fittings, not reducers. so it didnt look ghetto. majority were already -8 so i stuck with that even though its overkill honestly.

Some gun from harbor freight. It's honestly all in prep. Good sandblast and preheating and it will look like glass. No need for that expensive stuff honestly unless you're going to be doing wheels or chassis
Shanevasquez
05-26-2013, 10:03 AM
We do pretty much everything. Not chassis yet though because of size. I do a LOT of candy's, which is where the gun upgrade comes into play. with the higher grade gun comes way easier application. Which when doing 5-6 sets of wheels a week is a must. Currently using a spectra coat which even that one is a $1000 gun, but not happy when it comes to applying candy's.

Yeah that makes more sense. We just got it so we could mess around and do calipers, brackets, anything that would fit in the sand blaster honestly lol

I am not sure how much they charge since there primary business is not powder coating but I make pretty good profit. Depending on parts and colors using can make 80-90% profit off parts coated after price of electricity. lol

No I'm going to leave it open how it is. Ill be closing up the opening in the rear seat and that's it. We rarely powder coat for customers. Just for our own cars really. It would be nice to do it for customers but we would need a bigger sand blaster and oven

drove the car to Indiana for the d1mc event. on going issues with the fuel pump didn't allow me to drive it much. fuelab believes its the foam in the cell breaking down. I pulled it out but still have to clean the prefilter to see if its fixed. also my turbo is too big so switching to a gt28. still had a blast and smashed my front bumper

You're down sizing quite a bit on your turbo. Ever thought of going with a 3071 T/S? The GTX versions are quite quick with spool and still allow a pretty large peak number and powerband.

I've thought about it but I've had several turbos that just don't spool with a dick. Just want instaboost for once. A buddy of mine had the same pte and went gtx2863 and said there was no equality of fun.

Understandable. I loved the spool characteristics of my 12 STI. That thing was a light switch, even at 80 in 6th on the interstate. I surprised a lot of fast cars with that car on BPU's and a protune.
My problem seems to always come in the form of wanting more. I reach a set power goal and in a few short months, I want more. It's never ending.

If you would have been in the midwest I would have suggested PMF (the guys that built my cage) or also Ryan (oppomotors) But that shits in MN and I would say there probably is a just as qualified cage builder out there.

Well it was a pain in the ass to get these too fit. I still need smaller tires up front but for now I'm happy. I had to remove a few nuts from the multi link arms to add more caster, more negative camber, and more toe in. Wasn't thrilled about that but they fit and look nice

what size tire is that on the rear? that is a lot of camber for the rear especially from your last setup. try shaving the fender and taking some out

265/35r18, ill probably switch to 255/35 once i destroy these. my last setup has 0 camber. i cant shave it anymore i would have to bow the fenders. so just leaving it as is. car slides nice and clutch kicks easier now haha

Well it was a pain in the ass to get these too fit. I still need smaller tires up front but for now I'm happy. I had to remove a few nuts from the multi link arms to add more caster, more negative camber, and more toe in. Wasn't thrilled about that but they fit and look nice

Yeah I know it is. Might try a 245/35 so I can take some camber out. Or just flip the tires a lot lol
