Why do you drift/race cars?

i am currently writting a research paper on extreme/action sports and the pyschology/culture of its particpants. i not only race cars but participate in many other "extreme sports" and i am curious to know what reasons, other than my own, on why people take part in these activities...

so in short, why do you guys drift? (i will use some of these responses in my paper, assuming zilvia can hold back its asshole tendencies)

Why do I drift? I don't know. I just feel like I had to do it every here and then. If I don't, I would get pissed off, unable to do anything else. I don't care if its on a track or a parking lot, I had to statisfy my urge to DRIFT! Then I drift some more, and more, till the tire pops, had to go work busting my butt for some cash, buy some new tires and the whole process strats over again, and again, and again.
Oh crap....this sounds like I'm a crack addict...lol.

Well, for me its really fun to drift a car. I feel better after drifting and release some stress after work. Its like when my mind is at it limits of holding in all those stress, be it from school, work, girl, or families, I had to realese it somehow. Some people go workout at a gym, some smoke crack, some play games, some go bar hopping, what ever floats your boat people do stuff to feel better. For me drifting works wonders.

Watch the movie "keep drifting fun" and it completly explains mine and probably most peoples reason for drifting... It's absolutly the most fun you can have in a car. And and once you try it your gonna be addicted.

Its a release. Driving at limits allows me to only concentrate on one thing driving. Wether its racing or drifting. I come from miatas, and there is not a single thing better in life than reeling in a much faster car than you, in such a slow go kart.

I think movies got me started, I remember watching old skool James Bond movies from 80's. Even with half a car, he would still get that thing sideways in Paris.
Then I started messing around when I was 14 with friends car, hand brake 180's in parking lot. And yea then with RWD car just started naturally drifting.

I like drifting cause it's fun... That feeling you get when you see your buddy's door next to you mid tandem is insane. Knowing that if you mess up or he clips you (He clipped me -___-) you can damage your pride and joy but in the end you laugh it off because you damaged your car doing something you love. Lol, I like drifting... not as a competitive sport but for fun.
