I Am A New Guy At This Whole Nissan Game. I've Put Turbo's On Civics And Done Swaps But Nothing Into The Nissan Name. I Am Purchasing A 1991 240 Sx, I Was Wondering What All Is Involved. I Don't Have An Engine Looking For A Sr20. I Live In Western Pa, Land Of V-8's Or Hondas. I Want To Be Different And Start A Trend Or Maybe A Club. I Live By Hybridynamics.com Of Youngwood Pa. They Have A Sweet 240 That Runs 11.9's. If Anyone Has Any Suggestions Please Give Me A Hand.

To My Knowledge I Will Need:
Sr20 Engine
Intercooler
Exhaust
Intake

I'm Not Looking To Soupe This Car Out, Just Get Some Power And Something Fun To Cruise Around Right Now Til I Can Afford More.

well if you swapped honda motors before... swapping 240s is 10x easier :)
welcome aboard...
if you have $4000~5000 (assuming you do the work by yourself).. you can get and make the sr boost 14psi and get 220-240rwhp..
but remember.. sr is not the ONLY way

tristate nissan site (shop reviews etc): importfanatix.com
sr faq : heavy throttle website
general 240 info : nico, freshalloy, zilvia, 240sx.org

if ur just 'cruising around' buy a used ka engine for 200 or so and use that till you know what you really want.

I Can Get A Sr20 With Tranny And Ecu For 1800 And The Car Is Only 250. This Is What I Am Starting With. I Believe I Need An Intercooler Also And I See They Run About 800 For One. Anything Else? ......as For Honda's Not Being As Easy To Swap. Judging By Pics It Looks Like The Engine Bays Are Alot More Of A Jumbled Mess And Tight Squeeze For The Nissans Or Is That Just My Imagination?? And As For Mr. Clueless Its A Little Hard To Just Surf Around Like The Little Nerd U Must Be When U Work 40 Hrs A Week + And Go To School At Night. So Get A Life And Don't Bother Posting For Me, I'll Thank The Courteous Others Who Were Kind Enough To Help Me Out. Thanks And Besides I Can Walk To The Home Of The 11.9 240...if I Really Am In A Jam. I'm Sure He Knows Twice As Much As Urself.

ok..if you say so...:)..

i love when people make blind assumptions on these boards...everything has to turn into a personal attack...i didn't say one thing about you...yet you feel the need to insult me for telling you to do some actual leg work on your own...

whatever works for ya...

i cower in fear in the shadow of the all mighty knowledge of the 11.9...

dont buy a half ass sr20.. u will regret it espicially if you dont know what your doing... spend an extra 400 bucks and get a front clip, and sell off the body panels if they are in good condition or use them. Its worth the extra money trust me. and u getting a sr20 isnt different...

"pat, i'd like to buy a clue"...

read his post...he is not suggesting an engine other then an sr20...he is referring to your thoughts on getting a motor set (or part of one based on your list)...he is telling you that it would make more sense, save you time, effort, and prolly money in the long run, to get an sr20 clip as opposed to piecing it together...

I Figured That, I Wasn't Sure. Makes Sense. I Don't See Tho Why To Buy Pieces I Don't Need. Or Do I? I'm Under The Impression This Thing Will Just Drop In With Little Modification? Why Buy Fenders And Bumpers, When I Already Have Perfectly Good Ones. How Hard Is It To Replace The Clip Onto The 91? I Like The Newer Front Ends With Wider Lights Rather Then Flip Ups. I Might Consider It.

Nevermind. I Guess Just Sell The Extras Off. Since The Engine Is Already In The Bay..what Steps Would Be Involved Like Wiring Etc... After If I Went With A Front Clip.

you usually do not get body panels, or at least not ones in good condition, with a clip...the purpose is for ease of install...misc parts you might need...spare everything...and it's nice to have a mirror image of what you are attempting to do sitting next to you...no guess work...

i'm trying not to be mean..but seriously man..you have A LOT of research ahead of you..i don't think you have the knowledge yet to attempt this..at least without making it terribly difficult and time consuming on yourself if you are basically learning as you go..

Nevermind. Since The Engine Is Already In The Bay..what Steps Would Be Involved Like Wiring Etc...

you do realize with a clip you still have to remove and replace the engine???..right???

A full clip protects the engine and the parts you are going to need inside. As for an intercooler, a clip will give you the stock, SMIC to use until you are ready for a FMIC. If you are running a stock SR, then you really don't have to have an exhaust....it helps but not 100% necissary. Intakes are not always necissary either. Try the FAQ section, search other forums....search websites, read read and read. If you have read and have a specific question, try the search button and search through the numerous (sometimes too many haha) threads it will bring you to. If you still can't find the answer to a certain question, then ask.

If you want other options, try going with the stock KA, you can pick them up cheap, they are bullit proof and good to learn a RWD car with.

btw, I wasn't trying to be an ass to you, just trying to help....when I am tired! hahaha good luck with the car.

Well you know how all-caps is shouting. When I read something in all caps, it slows it down and seems like someone is shouting.

When I read something where the first letter of every word is capitalized, its kind of similar but different. Like someone is talking louder than normal and slowly. Kind of like how a retarded person talks. In fact, if I were to write a novel with a retarded person in it, I would capitalize the first letter of each word, to give the same effect.

Just thought I'd share.
