You will find a ton of seats on Ebay, but I would not recommend any of those cheap knock off seats.

Stick with authentic Sparco, Bride, Momo, or Corbeau seats. I would go with the Sparco as they tend to be the least expensive.

Try sonic motors there pretty nice and extremely affordable. Unless he's gotta have name brand stuff, but if he doesnt mind you should check em out

I'd suggest this Cobra seat.
Cobra Monaco Pro Black Tube Frame Bucket Seat (http://www.frsport.com/Cobra-Monaco-Pro-Black-Tube-Frame-Bucket-Seat_p_15046.html)

It's cheap, has side mounts available (which means it can be mounted low, bottom mount seats [cheap Sparco seats] will often sit too high and the driver/passenger will not be comfortable), and is still FIA compliant (Good safety rating)

Remember, you'll need seat rails...
Nagisa Auto XNSR011L Sidemount Ultra Low Seat Rail Driver Side 240SX (http://www.frsport.com/Nagisa-Auto-XNSR011L-Sidemount-Ultra-Low-Seat-Rail-Driver-Side-240SX_p_3003.html)

and a harness ($250-450)

Harness (http://www.frsport.com/Harness_c_329.html)

and a harness bar/roll cage unless one is already installed.

Good luck and I'm sure he'll enjoy his Christmas!

First off do u know what type of seats he may want. Honestly this is not something i would recommend you buy without his opinion on this matter. There is way to many different factors that are involved with this.

Fries you don't have to buy a harness when you buy a seat.

Correct, it would be the same as her fiance going out and buying a random diamond ring for her. Sure, it's a diamond ring, but a lot of them are butt ugly that she will not like.

With that being said, Buddy Club also makes a very nice seat in the affordable category.

want to buy him the best seat? some r34 gtr seats

now the question is, how much do you love him?

my advice, dont buy him a seat. modifying a car is a very personal thing and having a not-so-good part on your car because "my love" bought it for me is not exactly fun thing to deal with.

my wife buys me socks and tee shirts because she knows i will be upset with probably everything else

Agreed....you need his input on this matter. Very nice gesture and I am sure it would be greatly appreciated but its something so personal for us car people that if its not exactly what we want.....we would rather not have it.

PS you are an amazing GF for trying.

my max is 800. i do know he has had sparcos before in his old supra. this car is for drifting and everyone has been telling me the passenger seat usually is gutted idk if that's true. i understand you guys think i should let him but it took him two years for the motor and we do have a child so if i dont get him it hell have his stock crap ones for a while. he won't spend the money on it

Just be sneaky/creative and get a feel for what he would want: brand, style, color... and then report back to us.

you could get one with the budget you have, here is a link to a place that sells them BRIDE Seats | Bride Racing Seats | VividRacing.com (http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/seats-bride-c-4259_4520_4521.html) you probably wont get them before xmas though

Maybe see if you can source him some S14 seats locally. They're a nice upgrade from the 13s, and then get him a gift cert making your intentions known that you'd want them used for seats. I see you're in PA, and if you're in the SE side of the state, you could try R/T Tuning in Lansdale or VAC Motorsports in Philly, among others.

Like the guys said, there is really too many variables in buying a seat. Sizing (him vs. seat) is a major issue and can vary greatly between seats and manufacturers and can be hard to figure out without testing the seat out first.

Your best bet is a Bride Zeta III or a Vios III Low Max I think.

BRIDE ZETA III SPORT - Touge Factory Store (http://www.tf-works.com/products/BRIDE-ZETA-III-SPORT.html)

BRIDE VIOS III LOW MAX (FRP) - Touge Factory Store (http://www.tf-works.com/products/BRIDE-VIOS-III-LOW-MAX-%28FRP%29.html)

Dunno about any places closer to you though. Hopefully some PA guys will chime in.

like what you said, he had sparco seats before. How much did he like the sparco's?

Lets just say he loved it. If it was me, and I loved it so much, I would like to get my old seat back. Now it doesn't have to be sparco, but maybe the same color. Was the sparco a bucket or reclineable?

You would have to work on getting more info on his ideal seat and make sure to check if he will fit perfect on the seats. SIZE DOES MATTER. LOL

Come on Toby, you know damn well thats impossible. My woman NEVER asks me about car parts. Can you imagine that all of a sudden your woman starts asking about car parts?

"Gee hun, what do you think of that OS Giken clutch?" or in your case "Gee hun, arent you going to grow out your mullet now that you're installing an LS motor in your car?"

haha

This BUT! I'm sure the Reciept wrapped in HUGE box will suffice till he gets them.

yeah thats nice, a receipt. look how much (or how little) i spent on your surprise gift, SURPRISE! i would be so much happier with her in some sexy lingerie than i would a paper receipt for a car part that I probably didnt want. take heed to my advice, buy a different gift or just give him the money. no wait, dont give him the money... thats horrible, thats what an uncle or parent does. just do anything else than buy him a car part, trust me.... it wont work out. remember, we're guys... we're usually smart and when we buy parts, most of us dont pay full price. if you're a girl and you're shopping for a gift, you may end up over-paying or buying from a shitty shop that sells cheap knockoff seats....

Try sonic motors there pretty nice and extremely affordable.

What is your hubby's waist size/weight? That's a pretty big factor in buying a bucket seat.

Bride Vios III's and Bride Gias are good seats, the Gias is a little more comfortable but some people don't like reclinable seats in their race cars, and the Vios is a fixed back. Both of them are narrow though, I'm a 30" waist, 140 pounds, and 5'10" and if I was any bigger they'd be snug.

BossHogg
11-30-2012, 04:16 PM
If he said Bride.....then none of the other seats will matter. It is pretty personal, I thought this as soon as I read your post. Is it a nice gesture sure, but that really doesn't matter despite what "Christmas spirit" is about. No one wants junk they don't like. I'm surprised no one brought up Recaro. But it doesn't matter now.

He said Bride....that's what you get. Only getting 1 will be fine. Your $800 max will be met though. Do you think there is anything else that he may need before a seat? I mean 800 would buy a few nice quality suspension pieces. Which in my opinion, depending on if he is still on stock components, would be MUCH more beneficial to "drifting" and the car in general before a seat. Just throwing that out there.

since when does Zilvia help people...

lol. you deff need to figure out if he wants a fixed bucket bride or reclinable bride. most likely he wants a fixed if its a dedicated drift car. i recommend the bride vios III low max with your budget.
BRIDE VIOS III LOW MAX (FRP) - Touge Factory Store (http://www.tf-works.com/products/BRIDE-VIOS-III-LOW-MAX-%28FRP%29.html)
and as others have said he would need seat rails, a harness, and a harness bar or rollcage. but im sure he will be plenty excited to see a new bride seat!
