Oh yea, and Don Ahn said that if u want to have your friend in the passenger seat, your friend needs to buy the VIP/Pit pass. im wondering if you buy them at the actual track, or online. I'm assuming u buy the spectator/VIP passes at the actual track, but ill find out to make sure.

art if u wanna do the group buy u better do it soon cuz u still have to send it out and all and get the cash in time. GBs take a while and its frustrating so uhhhhh... have fun. Try giving helmetcity.com a call cuz they might be interested if u decide to do that.

I dont have to send cash anywhere because its local. And I dont have to wait for anything because its in stock.
And even if I did, I have a little over two months to do it, so... yeah.

Well... Here what I used to do when I had no extra money and the truck to tow my car.
Drive to Willow from San Jose. Race for Two Days then go home after the event to San Jose. Can you feel the stress of my car? LOL
I used to do this twice a month.
Now that I got smarter, richer (lol) I bought myself a truck and tow my shit to the track.

i've been looking for a truck to tow my car too. but i dont want a v-8 cause gas is too pricey. what do you tow with trueno? i've been thinking about a GMC sonoma 4.3L vortech. they can tow up to 8000 pounds cause they are so small with a big engine...they also are very small and the frame is strong(for the reg. cab short bed) and what kind of trailer?

You know... I prolly look into trucks all over the place and what I decided was Either the..
1. Yukon XL Denali -- Bad thing about this truck was too pricey and gasey. They only came with 4WD which is not very good for towing. I rather two with 2WD, Lot safer IMO. I crossed this out on the list.
2. Durango - POS small truck. I didn't even think twice when I step in to this stupid truck.
3. 2004 Hemi - WHAT WHAT! This shit was WHOA! But knowing I have family and friends, The truck option was bad. I would get this if money and space was not a problem.
4. 2002 Tahoe - With a flatbed tow the truck would swing if its too windy. BAD IDEA. You would probably need to go about 40-50MPH only when its windy.
5. SUBURBAN CHEVROLET - If you don't want a V8 then I suggest you don't tow cars around. I seriously wouldn't even think twice if I don't have a V8 to tow with. I bought a Suburban. Comfy. It has the 4WD and 2WD option which was great btw. I can prolly go around 90MPH with no problem whatsoever. (well except speeding).
All in all my mind was set to Suburban.
neevosh
03-23-2004, 08:46 PM
I use my dad's 2000 GMC Sierra to tow. It's the top model with the extended cab and small block V8. I've used it 3 times and it tows like a champ. It goes over Highway 152 no problem, and cruises at over 80MPH.
I've also seen a Toyota Tacoma V6 TRD model tow an FC with a flatbed over the Grapevine. So you don't need a V8 to tow, but it definetaly makes it easier.

If you have the money to spend get a 2004 Nissan Titan or Armada. Shoot tow a nissan with a v8 nissan. LoLz. And the Titan/Armada has a tow capasity of 8500 lbs so you wouldn't have a problem towing anything with it. I test drove one and Loved the power it pushes out and the handling.
I just decided a Truck or SUV wasn't for me so I decided to get a 1st gen Q45 as a family car.
shiet. i wanna spend like 5-7 grand . between my s13 and my ae86, i cant afford to finance a new car. if i could i would buy a used ZO6 and tow both my cars with it. As far as helmets go i got a Arai Rx7RR3(motorcycle helmet) it's DOT approved cost me like 450 bucks. I'm assuming this will be no problem to use with driving
thx247
03-24-2004, 11:46 AM
As nice as the RX7 (helmet) is, you may have trouble using it at events that require an SA helmet. I've yet to see a drifting event that required SA though, drifters know drifters are poor =)
So that helmet will work for this event, but just beware in the future of other events (speed trials comes to mind)
TRUENOCOUPE

Spectators are very welcome, there will be some smaller local vendors there, the instructors will be doing some demo runs, and the possible late day competition.
There are grandstands there with an awesome view of the whole track, seating capacity is 7k, including standing room.
www.jdmtheory.com and acutech racing will have their spoon cars, as well as their shop r33 and rhd ITR. The owner wants to try drifting his Integra Type R! That should be fun to watch!
We are also welcoming any club/team to have a gathering/meet at our event, if you know anyone interested, email me, and we'll try to make some special accommodations to help organize or designate an area for them
All in all, it should be a great day! Remember, this is a enthusiast event, organized be community enthusiasts!

the helmets brand was "fulmer" helmets and they sell at autobacs from $45-$99+ tax which i think is a great deal. Prices vary by color. I found this webpage http://www.fulmerhelmets.com/ but they dont seem to have the exact ones that i see at autobacs. they were all MA2000 though.
i heard that the infield track that will be used for drifting isnt even done being paved..i heard it's all fucked up and they're already taking sign-ups for the event anticipating of course that it will be done by then.

I might try this. I SUCK but oh well.
Krazy Bunta
04-02-2004, 02:33 PM
Ok before the rumor mill gets too carried away.
The track is there, its in fine condition...
They have promised us some improvements before our event date, but we've tested it in its current condition, and its awesome! It is NOT a full road course don't get us wrong (price of the event reflects this), but it is a real and present track and it will beat the pants off any parking lot event. Don't worry.
So... to summarize, the track is there, its not torn up, its in geat condition, and if NO improvements were to be made, we'd be fine. But... they're gonna add an overhang to the grandstands for us, they're gonna put up some new fencing, some new paint, some new berms, etc...
Hope this clarifies...

will the competition be tandem drift style?
So to clarify cause i'm retarded....
The track day is a practice day.
You want to make one hour for competition.
The track is finished and not rough gravel bullshit
I will spin out a lot cause it's my first time on the track.
Is this all correct.?
PS can you please get a picture of the track overview and highlight which part of track we will be using? I hope it's all the 90 degree turns in a row, that looks hella fun.
Krazy Bunta
04-02-2004, 06:19 PM
Al - let's do it!
balmo - tandem is doubtful... But if thats what everyone really wants, anything's possible.
wbpimp - The day is a drift educational and practice day first and foremost.
There has been alot of desire for a small competition, that is an option.
The track has been there for years, it is a REAL PAVED track. NOT GRAVEL.
Last one isn't a question, but I agree you probably will spin out  . No biggie.

this is from the spectator parking, which is not paved, well it is, just one lane of asphalt and you gotta park on the grass. so for those with allergies, I'd suggest you bring some benadryl or whatever, cuz I was sneezin like hell.

grandstand and front straight, i hope spectators during the drift day aren't limited to here.

back straight. i guess this is where the drift event will be, it's the only suitable area, around where the portapotties are. I don't mind tho, as long as we get this on a regular basis.

wow thanks anthony240 for the pics... ive been wondering what to expect from this track
If that barrier is moveable between the parking area and the main track it could make for a nice S-curve. Looks like a really small area from these pictures though. Thx for the pics Anthony.
damn i thought we get to use the road course. what's the deal? the layout on the internet shows a complete infield road course. this just looks like an oval in an oval. maybe i looked at the wrong website. so we're gonna have a cone course? or just drift these turns?

i've assumed that altamont is like irwindale where you have asphalt instend of grass in the middle. im sure ncda have this all figured out.

I heared it was set up like D1 where you start on the oval and then you turn in sharp towards the middle area. But im not to sure i just hope that the layouts good and that theres no walls because theres a lot of us new drifters out there who want to be able to push ourselves to the limit w/o worrying about a wall.

I think they're going to pave the middle of the oval like Irwindale... so I heard... if not I'm wondering what will happen.

pics are as of saturday, april 10. I don't think they will pave the center, because that's where the demolition derby takes place, and is their main attraction. so I don't know where exactly the drift course will be. NCDA is going out there on May1st to check it out, we could probably know by then.

Is it true that theres going to be a small demo on may 1st? Theres another event going on that day, so i think it will be short if there is one. Can anyone confirm this?

Nope, I don't think so...If i remember, there was only 1 spot left. Unfortunately it's limited to only about 60 drivers.

Shoulda thought of that BEFORE you signed up...
Anyway, the track doesn't rent helmets, so you better hope you can dig one up.. I don't have one myself (which is why I organized a group buy)... if you want in, now is the time.
Good luck with the helmet thing tho dude... ask speeddreamz, he may have one for you

whats the latest to back out if i already signed up?
it seems i may or may not make it now due to some family issues going on at the moment....i'll be able to know within the middle of that week
also hows the track situation going on?
the latest i heard as of 5-6-04 is that the track still isnt repaved and the inner wall is still there and realllllly close to the layout
i didnt know they could move that wall. That would be pretty sweet though.
