SO i have a redtop rebuilt sr, z32, t28 greddy rs bov, 440cc injectors, ngk iridium bkr7eix-11 gapped to .024 and at 1800rpm i can hear a buzzing noise coming from the top of my spark plugs and this only started happening after i re-gapped the plugs.. Should i re gap them? When i havent started the car in a few days, it will be rough starting.. Like it will die unless i hold the key for an extra 2 seconds but usually holds the 2nd time. At night time and its around 35 degrees it will take about 3 tries..... Wtf how do i fix??
Also i was wondering a preference on spark plugs for SR's and gaps.. I heard iridium plugs are bad since they get fouled quickly..
Note: I am running rich due to my ECU. enthrapy tune from florida. next thing i am doing is Power FC with commander since i belive my ecu is malfunctioning. I had my car dyno'd and it was running very rich even when i had my boost and fuel pressure regulator adjusted.. But it runs fine for how rich it is, i puff black smoke at about 6000rpms. Getting about 240hp on 12lbs..
Last thing: My z32 MAF is missing the little wire clip that holds it onto the sensor. I rigged a piece of wire and tightened up the connection so its on quit solid, and time to time it will act up like the MAF is bad.. SO ill hop out of the car (rpms will drop from 1000, to 500-700 up and down when connection is bad and it wont rev past 2500/3000 and it sounds like it has a rev limiter..) ill push on the MAF connection and itll turn to normal... My ECU will blink code 12 (MAF) and after i reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery and standing on the brake for a number of seconds, then ill tighten the connection on the MAF the only code will be code 55: No malfunction consult terminal required..
The only problem i will have driving will be a studder or quick bog every now and then..
Sounds like you may have a coil pack arc-ing out, have you checked the rubber boots/sleeve for damage?

How do i check/ fix that? It used to be fine but now only at 1800rpms it will make the buzzzzzzzzzing noise. even when in gear. I want to get rid of it!
And what do ya think about the MAF? It works fine when connected but ill honestly just push on it when it acts up and it runs fine. Only acts up every now and then.

Mafs was bad.. Replaced. Buzzing coilpack at 1800rpms?
Btw I am still not getting boost :(

It has to be asked, So you're not trying to build boost in neutral are you?
If you are actually driving the car and still not able to build boost, it's probably timing or a BIG boost leak.
Have you swapped the coil packs around to see if the buzzing follows cylinder or coil pack.
could just be your harness.
Get rid of the iridium's, until you engine is running right!

For SR, your plugs should be gapped to .030" IIRC.
Keep the iridiums... open the gap a bit. Swap some coils & see if the buzz follows like he ^^ said.
All things considered, it should still boost no matter what... unless you maybe left something disconnected?

When I try to build boost I am under load.. It will choke a couple psi past 0 and start studderng..
I have checked allllllll my coupler/hoses and I don't think I have a leak. 95% sure. Will use leak tester when I can.
But thank you for your help! I will swap coil packs next and do timing ASAP. I have a feeling my timing may just be off.
And I like the irradiums I've heard I should keep them. But my shop said gap at .22? Seems a little low.

Since I had a bad maf and was driving with it in limp mode for a little bit, would that retard my timing?

I just want a smooth wot in all Rpms :(

yes, it would trigger events that should have retarded the timing.

But, Your 240 is half broken!;)

Haha thanks for your tip. And setting my timing correctly now should makeup 240 not half broken! Everybody loves a happy 240.

So should I do my timing? I need some suggestions before I take the valve cover off and go buy new liquid gasket.. Please any help is appreciated. It just has a studded/ jerk and hesitation and when I give it full load pretty much at higher boost 8psi+.
I feel like it is either advanced or retarded due to running in limp mode before I replaced my mafs

Have you checked your timing? Have you checked for boost leaks/ There are a lot of things that could go wrong from shotty wiring to a bad boost leak. Also if your internal wastegate is bad or the arm popped off the flap that could also leave you without boost.

Check everything. You could throw money at it all day replacing stuff, or you could trace wires, measure resistances, and diagnose exactly what it is.
Your issues sound very similar to what I've been dealing with for the last few days.
Here's the thread. I'm fairly certain I documented everything i checked and did.
good luck.

I think the buzzing at 1800rpms is my CAS or it sounds like it from right there... Hmm.
HAVENT DONE TIMING SINCE IVE BEEN BUSY AND my battery is reloacted in the trunk so its kinda difficult. I started my car the other day after cleaning my plugs AGAIN and they smelt like gas. Like usual. Will do timing tomorrow since i finally have a good day to do it.
