hey guys i just got my hands on a 97 kouki with these suspension specs from the last owner, im looking for a daily drift setup, right now the car tends to spin out rather then drift most of the time, or grip like a mofo till it reaches the threshold, and will spin or not make for long drifts. Im still new to drifting so i know alot of it is practice, just wondering what you guys think about the alignment the last owner has on the car, he did not drift the car i think he set it up more for grip. After searching, i found these on DriftWorks. Most people on there use these settings or pretty close for the s14.
BAsically im just wondering what these specs are probably for? They seem pretty far from what i want, and if this is a good setup to change them too.
BTW i have
18" g35 wheels and Stance Gr+ coilovers
federal 245/40/18 rear
Hankook Ventus v12 (225/40/18) front
viva la rasta!!
SUSPENSION
assuming you dont have knuckles, modified lower arms or subframes...
front camber 2.50*, castor 8.00*, toe 0.00*
rear camber 1.10*, toe 0.00*
If you over centre the steering too much, then reduce the castor angle.
Make sure to check tyre pressures!
This set-up will give you awesome steering feel and very positive reaction when going onto lock, without being difficult to drive or snappy.

well i have an s14 with a KA....im currently running 1.8 deg in the rear on 205/50/16s and 2.5 deg in the front with 225/50/16s...in all honesty, you just need to get used to the car more and tweak it....make the car work for you...what works for me might not for you...its your style, just practice and tweak everything here and there, youll find something

Stock KA? Alignment isnt your problem, you have too much fucking tire in the back. Get some stock wheels with stock tires on it and use those on the back. Ventus V12s are decent tires for the front but I prefer Dunlop Star Specs of the same sizes.

This.
205's/215's at 50-60PSI should help a tonne.
yea i mean 215 40 17 are fine with 40ish psi sidewallls are sooo stiff you are slide master jay in no time

"Daily drift alignment" lol. I'm sorry but you sound a little too serious like you're out there competing in traffic.
The settings that you found on "Driftworks" are typically if you have a higher powered car to provide a wee bit of grip. So if you're still learning (with a stock KA) you'll have a lot of trouble breaking traction in the rear, PERIOD. And by the time you actually break traction, you've already spun out. Your rear camber settings are fine. You may want to bring out your front camber a bit more for some sex appeal and some more contact patch under full lock.
My tip is to use more speed to your advantage and weight transfer. Sounds Initial D-fanboy but it's true.

Try
Camber: F: -3 R: -2
Toe: F: 0 R: 0
Caster: stock (7ish)
Bump up the rear tire pressure to at least like 44 psi and keep the front psi at 30-35ish and make sure you have decent tires in the front to prevent understeer issues
Should be good for drifting

To give you actual relevant setup advice I need more info. Spring rates, coilovers, and swaybars are necessary info.
Personally I think your alignment is pretty good. The front is perfect, don't touch it. For a street driven car that only occasionally sees the track 2.5* of camber is tits. 3-3.5* for track-only type cars. Caster is also fine in the front. for the rear the camber is fine, but you need more toe-in. The rear tires should always have a little toe-in because when you gas it the rear suspension toe's out a little. I would say 1/16th to 1/8th inch TOTAL toe-in in the rear is right. More toe-in will result in a little more rear grip since the tires are fighting against eachother a little.
