We did a test run last week at Houston MotorSport Park and it was a ton of fun.
So this is going to be our first official Thursday Night Drift Meet (TNDM).
Yes TANDEM comes to mind but I wouldn't suggest it yet untill you get familiar with the place.
Here's how it's going to be setup. The owner allowed us to use his location on a Import Night. He charges $20 to Drive and $10 to spectate.
He'll have some vending machines or booths open (not sure which maybe both).
There are bleachers to spectate the drifting and a elevated wall with tables overlooking the 1/8th mile track.
So we get to drift and drag if you choose.
The drifting will have two layouts. It will be one or the other per night.
One week we may do the oval the next week we'll have the lot.
Oval- paved oval with a straight in the middle. We'll set up cones to practice feint drifting in the center and left or right turns out of the straight.
This oval should be fun. We may even park on one half of the oval and try drifting the other half at higher speeds if we all feel confortable doing it.
Some started drifting the half last week.
Lot- we'll set it up with a figure 8 style track. Good for practicing feint and controlling weight transfer from one turn to the other. We did this last week as well and it was harder than it seemed.
For now we can only do one track per week because the drag racers need a lot to stage. If we get enough attendance later he'll open on Wed. and we can use both spots. The place is no where as big as GGP but all we pay is $20 to drift all night and drag if you get spanked by your friend out drifting you.
This week we're starting with the Oval because the lot is having light poles removed. Since it's a smaller location pay attention to your surroundings.
NO RACING OR DRIFTING in areas we use to pit or lanes to get to other tracks. They are nice enough to let us use their track so respect it. If we see you acting like an a$$ you will be kicked out and there is no refund.
This is not a Grind event this a local track owner who has let us use his facility. So be smart before you peel off thinking your cool because you may not get to run again. Let's show him we respect his location so we can keep the drift nights going.
Most of all let's freak'n drift!!!!
