For many months my 95 240SX has not been starting properly, when you turn the key to start you usually hear a click at the starter,if you keep turning to start it will eventually turn over, sometimes it starts on the first turn of the key sometimes it takes many turns,I thought this seemed like a bad starter solenoid so yesterday I replaced the entire starter and still have the same problem,I decided to check the voltage at the starter(should have done this before buying the new starter) at the main terminal on the starter(from battery) I have 12.75 volts however when I check the small exciter wire to the solenoid when the key is turned to start I only get about 5.5 volts,What would cause this low voltage?
