Hi To All - I have finally made up my mind to sell my Brand New FJ20 engine.

Background History On Me: To give some history and background, I imported four brand new FJ20 engines (genuine zero mileage) directly from Japan in the early '90s through a Nissan \ Datsun Specialist called Chowinis. I have been messing with FJ engines for about 10years now. At the same time I was able to purchase a brand new genuine FJ24 kit (crank, pistons, headers etc etc) as well as many brand new and genuine Nismo \ Toda racing parts for the FJ20 (high compression pistons, radical cams, many engine gasket sets, headers, Sanyo Kiki quad throttle body \ sidefraft manifolds etc etc). As can be imagined shipping at the time on these items was very costy from Japan and the crate that all the engines and accessories came in was massive. Over the years, I sold off many of the parts like the FJ24 kit went to Australia, and the Nismo cams, racing pistons etc etc were sold to enthusiasts all over the world and North America.

I was the original owner of the awesome and brand new FJ20 that now resides in Adam Corolla's (host of the Man Show) beautiful BRE Replica Datsun 510 that was restored by a very reputable Datsun Specialist in CA.

Background History On The FJ20: Here is some interesting history on the FJ20. The FJ20 was one of the most modern engines when in debuted in Japan and was Nissan's most advanced engine at the time and there was vicious rumors that it was to be slated for Formula 1 duty, although that program never got off the ground. The race FJ24 had incredible success in the 240RS (S11 Silivias) especially in the International Rally Program. For production purposes the FJ20 was featured in S11and S12 Silvias, Gazelles, Leopards and DR30 Skylines (as a Normally Aspirated or Turbo option). The FJ20 is still an extremely popular engine today and complete re-build parts are still available. Australia's fastest 1\4mile 4cylinder is an FJ20 Turbo. This engine is considered the father of the SR20 that is popular today . The FJ24 was available in either a 260hp or 280hp configurations both were Normally Aspirated, and shows the potential of this engine.

Over the years I have received many emails, requests and telephone calls asking to sell the last FJ engines that I still own and the time has finally come. Some folks may know of me, as I have assisted many people with the build-up and maintenance of their FJs over the years.

The FJ That I Have For Sale: The FJ20 that I am offering for sale here on eBay has genuinely ZERO mileage and I guarantee that it is the ONLY one of its kind in North America, I cannot emphasize that enough! In the U.S there exists a few dusty\oily, neglected and very worn, very high mileage FJs tucked in the back corner of various people's garages, but this is not one of those, this is a genuine zero mileage, brand new motor. Please note how shiny all the bolts are, the frost plugs even the factory paint on the block is in excellent shape, the engine still even has the original new NGK racing plugs, the rare and original FJ oil filler cap and the original Nissan oil filter!!. This engine has never been on an engine hoist or mocked up in a car, it still sits on the original dolly it was strapped to from Japan.

This engine is the 150hp, 136ft.lbs Normally Aspirated motor that redlines just short of 7,000rpm. Here are the exact specifications on the engine:

Configuration - Chain Driven Twin Cam, 16valve, 4cylinder
Displacement: 1990cc
Bore: 89mm
Stroke: 80mm
Compression: 9.5:1
Crank - Fully forged counter balanced
Connecting Rod Length - 140mm center to center
Main Bearing Diameter - 54.95mm
Big End Diameter - 49.96mm
Piston Weight - Approx. 550g
Factory Cam Specs - 8.75mm of lift, 205dur at 0.050" lift
Inlet Valve Diameter - 34.5mm
Exhaust Valve Diameter - 30mm

When I took possession of these engines after shipping from Japan, I removed all the cylinder heads to confirm that the engines were indeed brand new by inspecting the factory hatch marks on each bore and also ensure that there was no carbon on any of the piston crowns or any of the valves, all engines checked out at 100%. As I disturbed the head for this inspection, I am including with this auction a Brand New and complete Nissan FJ24 engine gasket set which has a brand new 93mm head gasket for this engine as well as every other engine gasket, oil seal, valve seals etc etc.

This engine is absolutely internally complete from oil pan to valve cover, the engine has no rust or aluminum corrosion at all and has been carefully stored in thermostatically controlled garage (up to 6months ago the engine used to reside in my basement before I got married!), the red valve cover has lost some of its original red vivid color and has a few superficial scratches, but still looks amazing. I am including with this sale a set Brand New and genuine 4 into 1 racing headers built by now defunct and well known Japanese Racing Manufacturer - Tayo Racing, these headers used to retail for $490 when they were available brand new, the collector measures 2.5" in diameter and the flanges are 0.5“ thick. Please note there is no rust or dents at all on these headers and just a few aesthetic paint scrapes from being stored in my garage. The engine also comes with the engine temperature sensor and the sensor for the engine temperature gauge as well as a water pump - all new.

To get this engine running you will need only the following items:
1) A distributor (electronic preferred) from any Nissan \ Datsun A Series engine
2) A set of plug wires, any universal Accel \ Magnecor set will work fine.

As an FYI, any Datsun Z tranny bolts to this engine, and will be slightly rotated a few degrees.

I have had many FJ engines apart and I am always impressed at how strong and robust these engines from their bearing sizes, to the forged crank, to the beefy design of the blocks and connecting rods. In addition, the cylinder heads are nothing short of incredible in terms of their flow abilities and cam \ valve design, these heads are very close in design to many motorcycle heads that I have seen. Note the high lift of the stock camshafts!

The FJ engine is true high revving engine and the power band is from about 3,000 onto 6,700rpm. Due to the short rods, these engines love to stay in the power band and rev. In stock configuration the torque and horsepower is very impressive and this engine outperforms the naturally aspirated SR20 with ease. The FJ takes extremely well to forced induction and this engine would be a perfect candidate to turbo charge. These engines love to breathe, so other alternatives for this engine would be to make it a high strung “cammed“ high compression motor with quad throttle bodies or side draft carbs -or- to just have this as a rare spare for the FJ that you may currently own in your own car. Large horsepower benefits are easily attainable by using the Headers I am including, combined with a free flowing exhaust and also by improving on the intake, these engines like to breathe!! This FJ20 engine in a Roadster, 520 or 1200 would be incredible!

As a bonus, I am also including a copy of the ultra rare factory manual, which is a full rebuild manual and has every torque and rebuild specification that you can wish for!!

I guarantee that this will probably be the ONLY time a new FJ20 engine like this will be offered for sale on eBay.

hey, i'm located up north in fort collins... what intake manifold(s) can be used with this motor (specifically fuel injected)? would you be interested in keeping the exhaust manifold for a lower price? ben

Thanks for the bumps gang - much appreciated!

In a S11 or S12, this engine would be awesome - for sure!

brokenben - LOL! You're right, this really needs to be in a Museum! Maybe I should call Nissan and see what the bean counters there might offer! I am not sure how many zero mileage FJ engines are left in the world?

andrave - You may be right for a street car, but there is an FJ Turbo in a tube chassis rail car in Austrailia that run 7s, I should have clarified this in my description, thanks for the catch.

giant killer - For an intake, the best thing to do would be to get a used one off one of the guys at www.fj20.com. There is great community support on that site and lots of parts floating around. If I kept the exhaust headers, what would you offer?

S13Koop - Your 510 is begging you right now for this FJ, come on you can do it!

Regards - Slow'n'rusty
