sounds like your tps is not adjusted properly. google it.

If it helps:

1.) Remove the distributor
2.) Set to TD1 Compression Cylinder #1
3.) Reinstall and check timing

-Reasoning, stating because a friend had a rebuilt 22-RE, and the distributor was installed incorrectly and was off by 180 degrees, according to the {Crank-to-Cam Ratio} 1:2 ( 360 - 180 ) - From my recollection.

To set TPS on my SR, should be fairly similar on KA though

1) First set your ignition to ON.
2)Get out your multimeter. We need to test the voltage on the tps. It's on the opposite side of the throttle body. Follow the wires back to the plug. Now on the tps harness put the positive lead in the white wire (middle wire in the first row) and the negative in the black wire (first wire in the second row) or any ecu earth.
3)We need to set this to 0.45v. To do this, loosen the two bolts holding the tps and move it until you get to 0.45v. Its on two slides, push the side closest to the front of the car down to increase voltage and pull up to decrease. Don't loosen the bolts too much, only enough so the tps can be moved. I used a long flat head screwdriver to push the tps fhs down to increase the voltage.
4)The optimum idle speed is 850rpm. If it is still idling too high or hunting it may be your air idle control valve. This is located under your first and second intake runners. Between the second and third intake runners is an adjustment screw. Turning it in will decrease idle. Turning it out will increase idle. The tps and iacv should be set the same. Disconnect the tps harness and start the car, adjust the screw on the iacv until the idle is about 850rpm. Then plug in the tps and the idle shouldn't change. If it does then the iacv needs to be adjusted until they match.
5)If it is still hunting the iacv could be dirty or broken. Remove the adjustment screw and spray a good half can of throttle body cleaner in there. Its best to remove it to clean it but this wont hurt it cleaning it on the car. Put the screw back in, start the car and let it idle for about 10 minutes to let all the cleaner burn off. If it still wont idle the iacv may be broken.
