Looking at a '98 LE. I can't find any reliable info on the difference between this model and the SE. What I really want to know is the suspension different? I would assume the suspension is softer and more suited for a "luxury" car, though I doubt anyone ever bought this car for luxury. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I thought stock suspension was supposed to be really good.

really good if like a nice ride on a highway with expansion joints over a jaunt through the canyons.
at least the 98 should still be ok.. I'm into s13's and they all have blown shocks and bushings so stock sucks even worse.

the only difference is the LE has 4 lug hubs, SE has 5
Other than that, structurally and mechanically they are the same as far as suspension geometry, sping/ shock etc.

5 lug S14s have slightly stiffer springs, a larger front swaybar, and an added rear swaybar compared to 4 lug S14s.

A '98 LE should be 5 lug though.

A Canadian model LE = top model = 5 lug
A Canadian model SE = Base model = 4 lug

US SE = top model = 5 lug
US non-SE = base model = 4 lug

"Sport Suspension" is standard in US SE model. They are a little stiffer than the base model

Other than that all other suspension components in all S14 are the same.

btw:
Is there any LE S14 in US??

US had LEs 97-98 Basically same as SEs but came with all the goodies. Everything that comes with the SE but came stock with leather seats, LSD/ABS and better sounds i believe.

Yes there is. I'm looking at one right now.

question for somebody - do any of you actually have proof that the "sport suspension" is stiffer than that of the base model? i know the SE models are said to have the sport suspension, but i get the feeling that it just means the addition of the rear stabilizer bar gives it the "sport" title.
and somebody said the front stabilizers are different sizes. can you prove that too? i am just curious and doubt it.

I have a Canadian SE S14 and i have 5 lugs, rear/front swaybars.
Research a bit more before giving out false info.

Me too. Is yours a 97/98? I've heard that silvia14's info applies to Canadian 95/96's only.

Yeah, it's a red 97 SE. Not as pretty as yours. :)

There might be some truth to that rule applying to only the Zenkis but i will let the Zenki owners worry about that.

I'm pretty sure that someone has posted the spring rates to confirm this at some point.. I do not remember, maybe someone still has access to them.
