View Full Version : No Throttle Response after hard bumps or 'fast' turns

Hey guys- really need some input here if anyone knows.

Quick reference: 98 Kouki- auto swapped to manual a few years back. Coilovers. Bone Stock KA. SAFCII.

So this issue started happening more recently. When I would hit any bumps (dips in road or even big lane dividers) my throttle response would completely cut out. Although my safc shows I'm giving throttle percentages). Usually it will cut out for a few seconds and then just fix itself and throttle would kick back in.
Today it happened at low speed bump and stalled cOmpletely. So I popped the hood and made sure wires were in there tight/MAF was plugged in and no hoses were loose. Nothing out of the ordinary. Got back in tried to crank a few times and it started up on the 3rd try and idled fine and drove away.
Any ideas as to what's causing this issue?

Any helP is greatly appreciated
-chris

No need for that safc on a stock ka. I bet if you pull that thing out of there you'll be in good shape again.

Is your battery bolted down?

Short story long- was gonna boost it when I purchased the safc. But since it's wired in im not going to remove. Also, car had been running for a good year or more with safc.

Now that u ask. I'm not sure if its bolten down with that stock bar over the top...I checked the connections and it's all good. plus- when it happens I still have power and voltage everywhere. Just no throttle response.

Thanks for the responses so far

Check your TPS connection.

Turn the car on, and wiggle the TPS and wires that are connected to it , to try and simulate the problem.

The reason I say that is because safc's have been known to cause goofy shit to happen. If I were you I'd at least reconnect the maf wire and go from there. Wouldn't hurt to rule it out.
