Hey fellow Nissan owners. I've been out of the community a while, but I finally (after 3 years downtime) got a new SR20DET in my S13 240.

I just finished hooking everything up (except water pump, alt, PS belts) and I wanted to start it for a few seconds to make sure it would run alright.

So first turn of the key it starts and sputters for a second then dies. So I naturally try again, except now it just keeps spinning and gives a single cylinder put every rotation or two (like only one cyl is working).
Now I have all of the wiring hooked up correctly, I had an SR before and labeled every wire before I took it out. I did use old plugs, planning on changing them but I can swap to the new ones if needed. Fuel is old, but I ran a gallon or so through the line (using the fuel pump) before trying to start it.

Any other ideas for what I should look at?

battery check out fine? old spark plugs could have something to do with it, try swapping the plugs like you said. how old is the fuel?

Well my battery is very dead so I was jumping from another car.
The fuel tank is sadly half full of 3 year old gas.

Good news, I changed the spark plugs, bolted down the apparently missing ground for the coil packs, and after giving it some gas the car started up and idled fine.

After getting everything else hooked up it started first try and ran like a champ.
