View Full Version : Difference between 300zx and 240sx adapter for 350z rotors

I bought the wrong adapters for my car. Have a 240sx and got the 300zx 350z rotor adapter. Will it work? I notice there is a slight difference on the adapters. Any reason why?

Considering the 240sx requires adapters to run z32 brakes, one could assume that they are not interchangeable.

No difference at all. identical mounting.

Same shit bro. And ^^ is stupid. We need adapters for z32 brakes lol

This ? Is not about z32 calipers, us about brackets(adapters). Z32 calipers bolts on to both and work with z32 rotors. THE QUESTION IS IF BRACKETS to use 350Z TRACK ROTORS WITH Z32 CALIPERS in 240sx and 300zx are the same.

No shit. They are the same we said it twice

What i got. Says 300zx

See the difference? Occording to that they are not the same. Is a legit question.

And you answered incorrectly twice. Please explain your reasoning. If s-chassis cars require an adapter to run z32 calipers and rotors, how are the adapters for z32 and s13/s14 to run 350z track rotors going to be the same? Look at the mounting points.

Mounting points are obviously different.

Thanks booey, seems the sent me the wrong ones. S chasis and z do need this adapters to run the 350z 12.75 " rotors but was confused after looking at this pictures

So you're looking to use a 350z rotor with a stock 240sx caliper right?

S13 and z32 mount the same. I was going of this only. So if they use different rotors to put z33 rotors then that's new to me and the interwebs has lied again. I'm sorry for not getting your question right

Strange. If z32 calipers and rotors transfer to an s-chassis without an adapter, that would make their mounting points the same. Then why is a different 350z rotor adapter different between s-chassis and z32's?

Rotor size. Z32 is like 11" note sure. Z33 tracks are 12.75"

My bad. Good question. For some reason I was thinking z32 calipers with z32 rotors needed an adapter. I have them on my car but did them years ago. :duh:

I understand that, but the brackets are the same. 300zx calipers/rotors bolt on to an s-chassis without modification. So logic would tell us that the adapter bracket for a z32 will be the same as the s-chassis bracket.

Apologies to future, as to the two different adapters...i'm now stumped.
Found this on concept Z. Looks just like the 240sx adapters. Maybe it's because those pics are from ebay?

Yeah logic says that but those are obiously different adapters. Do u get me? They sent me the one that looks in a angle. No idea Why they made them different to the standard one. Who knows all i know is i have to send them back and get the correct ones.

I bought the adapters for the Z32 to upgrade to the 350z track rotors. They essentially bolt right up like I imagined they would since the Z32 calipers have no issue.
Everything I went through is laid out in my build thread...

They are different because the mounting points on the knuckles are thicker on the Z32 than the 240sx.

This is what I bought...
Z1 Motorsports Brembo Brake Rotor Conversion Brackets (http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_7&products_id=5651)
Z1 Motorsports makes good shit, you will just need to use your own spacers until the rotors seat right in the middle of the caliper. A little bit of trial and error but its easy.

The only thing I don't like about this "simple" upgrade, is the fact that the brake pad hangs off the outside edge of the rotor, rendering about .250" of the pads surface area useless. For this reason I upgraded to Wilwood calipers/mounting bracketry and lines. All in all it was maybe $150 more over the Z32 caliper upgrade, not to mention pads are significantly cheaper at every compound.

That a good option if you are doing the whole upgrade. But for people that already have z32 caliper this is the best bang for the buck. I measured the amount of pad hanging outsude tge rotir and is less than 1/8 and i have no problem with that

If anyone can provide me the measurements of the "correct" adaptor for the 12.75" z32 rotors. Reason I'm asking because this system is going on a completely different car, and I want to see if it'll fit. I'm asking for the bottom part where the adaptor bolts to the original brake caliper mount.
