So I'm trying to figure out what kind of valvetrain this is that I got in an assembled SR20DET head that was supposedly Tomei everything... I'm sure someone has seen this, but I did find an etching on the valve stem that says REV. The valve stem sits too low and makes the rockers contact the retainer when the shim is in place. It has a really thick spacer as a valve seat and no Tomei product ever uses that, plus the retainers doe not fit well at all on the dual springs.

Not very good fitment of the retainer would slide around when compressed

Titanium is not that soft look at damage and scratches

Well in any case, someone have any ideas on what this valvetrain is for? It was run in the head for awhile, but now I can't run it and the head is garbage.

Wrong retainers for springs... change them to correct and your valve train will work.

You've probably also have guide wear from the preloaded offset spring on the retainer.

Need new retainers, new guides, new stem seals, and professional assembly.

Yes, the head specialist I went to showed me that the guides are worn out, and that the retainers are not the correct ones for a dual valve spring, they are not stepped for the inner spring, just flat on the bottom. Retainers, guides and assembly... another $600 total... great a $1,200 head with a company that no longer makes these parts due to probably being crappy.
