ok, i really want to start this out as just a story, not really a technical tidbit (although there is a little in here). so yeah, its nothing big, but my first day at the track was today. needless to say, it was fun, and my skill had to improve at least 10 fold just from our 3 hour little slide session.

anyways, i'm making my last run and i hear a lot of thumping in the trunk. i had previously relocated my battery in the trunk with the summit relocation kit. i open the trunk and i see my battery had broken out of the box and ripped the negative ground out. i put the key back into the car and no response. so i reground it and it won't click over. but i pull out my keys and there's spark marks on the actual key itself from inside the ignition cylinder...WTF  :ughd:

somethings dead under the hood and all i can hear is clicking when i try to start it, yet it will still pushstart. the battery is still good so i know thats not a problem. i think i'm going to try to re-relocate the battery to under the hood tommorrow as to bypass the possibilities of the 2 ga. wiring being the main source of the problem.

has anyone else ever experienced this kind of problem? i'm kinda scared because i'm an electrical noobie. also, did anyone get pics from todays (2-29-04) pennington field www.texasdrift.com event? i'd like to see my car in action. thanks for reading my short story guys.

btw, if this needs to go to tech please move it, i just thought it was semi chat-like story-like and it won't get a whole lot of views in the tech forum.

clicking during startup is normal, those are your relays. however, what about your STARTER? if it doesnt click then its not getting juice. check it.

thank you for the optimistic help guys. these responses are making me feel a whole lot better about the possibilities that its not a start/alternator problem and that its probably a wiring/fuse problem. keep em comin :D

check the switch on the actual clutch. I hed the same thing happen to me. I could pop start the car but not start it any other way. and that was my problem. good luck!

yeah, definatly check the switch on the clutch pedal, when I was drifting the other day some how the black plastic bumper thing on that hits the button so it knows the clutch is in broke off, so when the clutch was depressed that button wasnt so it wouldnt start because it thinks the clutch is not in.
