Hello Gents,

I am new on this site and need some help. I have been building my car for a while and have gotten to the point that I need a CALIBRATION file to get my engine started. I have purchased an AEM Series 1 EMS. AEM tells me that with the base map the engine should idle but this is not so. Can anyone be so kind to help me with a working calibration file to have the engine idle so I can take the car to a tuner? Also, I was told that if I remove the original MAF and install a MAP than I also need to install an IAT sensor for the EMS to work. Is this so?

This is driving me crazy as I cannot manage to figure this out.

Thanks for the help,

Korsou

Modifying a car requires knowing what to do BEFORE starting, and somehow understanding what you are doing too.

You switched engine management, yet you dont know what MAP or MAF is about ? I highly suggest you tow your car to a known tuner and let him do his job. No offense, but you ARE going to damage your engine if you keep going that way.

And yes, using a MAP sensor (not to be confused with a "base map" ), you need an IAT sensor ... A MAF measures mass airflow, a MAP sensor only measures pressure, it needs temperature (IAT) to get the same information (every charged engine needs to know mass airflow, MAF and MAP/IAT are 2 ways to achieve the same goal. NA engines only need throttle position as you can deduce the airflow from that and some computations, that is refered to alphaN management)

Hello Crousibat,

Thanks for the response. You are correct, I formulated my question incorrectly. If I remove the MAF sensor, does the CA18DET not have an IAT already?

Regards,

Korsou

P.S. I fully agree with you I need to take it to a tuner, problem is in Spain that is much easier said than done :(

MAF does not need IAT => there is none on the CA.

Not having a tuner and not knowing how to tune is indeed a real problem... why did you get a new engine management if you knew that before ? Is your oem management fried ? Sticking a nistune on it is usually good enough for 400-500HP and it is quite hassle free (you still need to know how to tune though)
