Hey guys I need so help in a few areas with my 92 hatch. Im still just a noob when it comes to this and would like some advice or point me in the right direction on what I need to do to fix this. Every time I start it up I have to rev to about 3000 rpms and hold it there for a few seconds to let it idle correctly and when I come to a stop the car wants to stall out and sometimes it does stall and some times it will sputter then idle fine also when I start from a dead stop to 1st I have smoke coming out of the exhaust it doesn't run hot anything like that so if you could give some advise on where to start with this that would be great!

What color smoke? Does the car smell like raw fuel? Have you done anything to the car prior to this?

Sound like the engine have some machanical problem.. White smoke coming out the exhaust mean something wrong with engine.. Sound like might be burning oil.. What's the mileage??

139xxx I'm thinking maybe leaky injectors or a coolant leak?

I don't think it leaky injectors but need more info on the white smoke. Is there alots of white smoke or less? Does smell like oil or just coolant? Do you see this happening all the times?

Less white just enough to be noticeable and it smells like coolant and no it's off and on I notice it more before the motor is warmed up

I would look into the coolant problem.. Is there any lose of coolant in the reservoir?? It might be burning coolant or possible head gaskets problem..

I'm not sure I'm going to do a pressure check on it Monday and I've looked at the heads there's no creamy color in the oil indicating that it's the heads so I'll start with the coolant and see if it fixes the problem
