i got a big question for all of experts here .. im a newbie so please take it easy on me jaaja. Well by some reason my car wouldn't start but as i was cranking the motor I smelled something weird so i went to the passenger side where the ecu is located and removed it and sure enough it was the ecu so i checked the pinout of this ecu and it wwas the ignition pin. i had my maf conected with those speaker wire terminals . now my question is will this be the problem? or should i look for short somewhere else? thanks for your help guys

Check the motherboard of the ecu and look for any burnt/ breaks in the internal wiring of it. If you find one trace it back to the pin and compare it to a pin-out online to see what it is. If it is the ignition there is your problem and you could either buy a new ecu or if you trust your soldering skills you can try to repair it.

i did trace it and i seems like it is the ignition but do you think my problem is the maf wiring i had? cuz i dont want to burn a new one thanks

CHECK your maf wiring. I knew someone that wired up a z32 maf wrong and when they tried to start the car, the ecu started smoking.

the thing is that i had it wired with speakers terminals but i did buy the maf plug and install it but it was too late for my ecu idk if it was my maf wiring hopefully it was and i hope i wont burn another na ecu cuz they are hard to find ..... i pobably change to a zenki wirirng so i can run a wc ecu .... easyeer to findd... dont know what to do...

Well check your wiring for the maf if that is the last thing you did. Just because you used speaker terminals does not mean its a bad thing. It is better if you solder all connections. If you keep the butt connectors (connectors used in car audio installs) just make sure they are crimped correctly and none of the leads are exposed. If they are use electrical tape and cover any exposed leads/wires.

Not sure how bad you cooked your ecu, the guy I knew who got the ecu to fry/smoke was lucky enough that it did not effect anything. Car was still able to start and run. He ended up later just buying a Wiring Specialties Pre-made harness and a power-fc since he was going to get the car tuned.

well i already installed the maf plug but im pretty sure the wires touched well hopefully this was the problem cuz i dont want to fry another ecu. i did try to start the car with the fried ecu and it didnt start it just cranked so i checked the voltage on almost everything inside the engine bay and i was only able to read the 12v so im sure the ecu doesnt work anymore si i hope the wiring was the problem i cant think of anything else

Got a pic of where the ecu is "fried" or a break in the mother board? I've had this happen twice. Not my doing being that I got the car like that. Depending on how bad and the location should be able to solder it up.

My brother in law (tv tech) did my soldering and everything is fine now. He said the maf wiring causes a short and will break a connection in the motherboard. If you send me a pic I can show him and maybe he can repair it for a price. LMK.

So what type of MAF are you using/installed? I'm assuming a Z32? If you installed a Z32 MAF you will need a SAFC, Power FC or something along those lines and input the new parameters or your car will not start. Your wiring should be fine and I doubt the ecu is that damaged since it is pretty hard to fully cook your ecu unless you really fuk up.

If you really want to know if the ecu is still good or not, re-install the old maf and maf plug and try starting the car.

i already sent it for repair hopefully it is fixable but it appears to be the ignition i read and people said it can be caused by a short with the maf wiring but iim not 100% sure

i had a z32 maf but i went back to stock i had my car running for about a week and this happenned but i already tried turning it on with the new plug and it wont start at all but the ecu acturally started smoking so i opened it and i saw the burnt mark i traced it and it appears to be the ignition
