So I had a guy rebuild my sr20 so i wouldnt have to deal with any problems but it just made one big one. I had a friend put the motor in and he said it was miss firing as soon as he started it up and it was running for about 30 seconds then cut out and wouldnt turn over after that. Turns out the cam snapped and i dont know if it was a bad cam or the guy that built my motor did a shotty job. And also im leaving for army basic traning in 2 days so i kinda need to know what you guys think asap because i dont want to be stuck with rebuilding the engine over again.
Cliffs: rebuilt motor, cam snapped right after start up, how could that happen?

Just put another cam in it, and follow the FSM procedure. Snapped cam installes are 99% caused by improper FSM procedure, and not having the crank at TDC
Good Luck at Basic training man!

Did you put the cams in? If not, bring it back to the who ever put the engine back together. They probably owe you some new valves too.

This is what i said. I did the swap for him. So of course if feel like shit, car was mis firing, but didnt find any problems exeternally. So I figure timing wasnt set correctly.
