i just bought a 1992 nissan 240sx last night, guy said motor was "rebuilt", from the outside the water pump and timing chain cover looks new, the timing chain looks new. but when i popped the valve cover off the oil had a white tint to it and was very thin, i found a can of seafoam in it so i assume he poured all the seafoam in the oil.. anyways i did a compression test and it was 95-100psi on all 4 cylinders, could it be that the motor was built for low compression or is it fucked and am i gonna have to rebuild it the right way?
also the motor barley runs, it runs like crap, maybe the cam timing is messed up giving me the low numbers idk, ill check the cam timing soon.

Its nearly impossible to tell if the rebuild was done right or not, more than likely was a shitty rebuild cuz it doesnt run right. If u have any experience with rebuilding engines, I would just do a complete tear down and make sure it was done right :wtf:

Well when I did my rebuild I had 110psi on all cyl. After 600k miles it jumped to 120psi. And now with 3k miles it may have jumped up more. If it fresh rebuild then the rings have to set in a few miles.
U doing the test right? Full throttle and crank? Timming maybe off on the dizy like u said. Mine was also and car sounded like a subi. Well hope u fix it cuz that's BS how a seller can lie to u like that.

I dont feel like playing the guessing game so i pulled my motor. Tranny crossmember bolts were loose. Engine mount bolts were loose. Crank pully bolt was loose. Pulled the motor. Bottom end was painted and has new freeze plugs. And a luk ldf 536. 6 puck clutch (any good)?? So the block looks new but the head and upper part of the engine looks like ass. There was about 6 qts of oil and it looed like a milk shake. I only had this car 2 days and i hate it lol
