I think automatics are "dookie" Continue shopping around and buy a stick. Unless u wanna be referred by street racers as "dookie"

My thoughs exacly, u wont be called dookie if u have an camaro or a monte thats auto, cuz those are fast and auto, but when u are talking imports, dookie is the right term

well, manuals will always be better on take offs if driven right, but if an auto is better for you then there's nothing wrong w/ that.

automatic turbo cars are fun cuz at the launch you can hold the brake down and spool the turbo right away off the launch like a manual.

If you were to get an auto to change the launch caracteristics you would need to get a different torque converter, they are about $1100 for a good one, so get a manual.

Also holds boost better between shifts. It's all a matter of prefrence. Buy which ever you want.

I would always buy a manual, but it is interesting that drag cars always seem to use a auto isn't it?

thats the beauty of a stall converter.. stall it up to 3000-3500 and let it rip.. good buy Mr Manual off the line... however, when you hit the twisties and stuff, its all over for you.

mostly for the high powered cars where it doesn't matter if it has an auto tranny n no chance of u messing up while shifting when going that fast. 240's don't really have the high hp/torque as the big v8 drag cars w/ autos, so an auto tranny isn't really ideal for 240's, power wise (for the most part).

It also depends on what you want to do with your 240. If you're going for more autoxing, having an automatic will screw up your tranny big time.

familys, and lazy ppl.
I have heard of a converter u can get so u can still have a clutch and a stick, but switch it to auto at anytime, i lose the site, but i might want that, for the resions stated above
Then what is an auto good for?</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>

It all depends on what type of performance you want. If you want a drag car, you'll want an auto.. but not a stock auto. You'll definately need to modify the internals. This is a good option if you go high-HP drag and want consistency. Stick is not preferred..
If you want a good canyon car, 5-speed is the only way to go. Besides, a 5-speed is more sporty.. so generally speaking, you'll want that if you are on a budget.
