That sounds like you slipped a bearing. When I had my ka, it made the same noise when you would give it gas and I found out I slipped a connecting rod bearing.

thanks for your input, today i will take the cams out and check the lifters, if thats not it i'll be pulling the engine next to check rod bearings.

That sounds like it's in the head, also vacuum and exhaust leak!
East Coast? Where, and why is the check engine light on?

i believe it does have a leak, prob exhaust, its not a check engine light its a hiccas light, from low steering fluid. I took that valve cover off and was going to pull cams and look at the lifters. But i realized i was not sure where the timing chain tensioner release was. I read that you have to take off the oil pan some where to get to it. I am not really sure. So i was thinking of pulling the engine to make it easier to check all areas for problems. I drained the oil their were no metal shaving , i check with a magnet. I flushed the coolant, pulled and tagged the wiring , removed intake and inter cooler piping to begin engine removal. Then it got really hot out. I live in the Tri state area.

it's on the left side, no need to remove the pan.
get a fsm before you start.

You don't have too remove the sprockets from the cams, zip tie and remove tensioner, then move cams out of the way. leave shim and guides in there place , remove the rocker arms 1 at a time, bleedeth the lifterseth. then the rest is all reversivfy. lol
