S14 Steering Column Play

hi everyone,

the search function seems to be timing out, sorry if repost.

i discovered some play in my steering column. it is right above the rack to column joint (steering wheel has play, but the joint at the rack doesnt move)

i looked in the FSM and it looks like theres another joint about where the firewall is.

does anyone have experience with this? do i have to replace the entire column or just the shaft/joints within?

I have the same issue idk what to do to fix it..

i think a replacement is warranted. i don't see a way to fix a u-joint that's welded to its rod. unless its not welded and removable like the one at the rack, but this i don't know.

replacing the U joint might help..

is that possible? is it part of the shaft or is it removable?
