I just got my 13 painted by this dude.. paid $950 for WV2 and labor up front and it took him 3weeks to do it.... There are still dings in the doors and shit but that's my fault for going to him instead of an actual shop. NOW I am worried about color sanding because he clearly didn't do it. I need my shit sanded and polished since it isn't shinning at all and is very rough. I want to know: how long is it before I can get my car color sanded and buffed? He told me 2-4weeks...I heard elsewhere it was 2-8hours and the longer I wait, the harder it will be.

Anyone have any kind of experience with paint and stuff like this?? I am in a hole right now and am NOT going back to him!!!

I recently painted my trunk and I did the wetsanding the day after I painted it and buffed it a couple days later. Used 1500 grit then 2000 then rubbing compound and finished it with ultimate compound.

I would wait a day or two so the paint could fully cure then color sand, It looks ruff in the pics so it
might take a while to color sand that car down but just use 1500 grit paper first then go to 2000 then rubbing compound and polishing compound good luck

Man this paint job makes WV2 look like an ugly color when in reality its one of the best silver metallics.

I think once it gets sanded and polished I'll be good.

I would wait 1 to 2 months for full cure then wet sand @ 1500-2000 depending on the orange peel you can start off at 1000-1200 if he spray alot of clear coat.

Posting for post-color sand and buffing results.

And to be honest, it could have been a lot worse--it's not TOO bad. My problems with this is that it just doesn't look like WV2 at all and the money you paid could have been used for Maaco which would have gotten the right color the first time around.

That's why I think after I get it sanded and polished it will show the REAL WV2. I mean I spent $250 for the gallon!

Oh! Also, would the fact that he said he put 3 coats of clear on it make a difference when sanding?

u can color sand it right away or wait for the paint to fully cure in a week it doesnt matter though.. just becareful not to go to deep to the paint since the guy did a bad job he probably didnt put enough clear coat or smthn.. goodluck!! and do it with 1500-2000 grit..

and yea it does make a difference u put 3 coats of clear coat so wen u wet sand it it doesnt damage the paint color so fast while sanding
