i "upgraded" from the stock radiator on my s14 to a koyo, and according to my temperature gauge, the temp went up 3 degrees celsius.
this was on an engine with only i/h/e. no major mods.
so perhaps you dont need to upgrade your radiator?
however i do recommend you get a swirl pot

i got mine from PBM å*·å´ãƒ‘ーツ Cooling - POWERED BY MAX (http://www.gtfactory.jp/cms/page.php?11)

You need the adapter/sensor holder to hook up on the lower rad hose, then you still have to machine the bleeder hole to fit a fitting in there. Most fittings are too big so you'd have to drill the bleeder hole bigger and re tap it to fit a fitting.
Or you can get creative and find something that fits the stock bleeder hole that you can clamp a hose on to.

if you are on a budget just get an automatic radiator. i think they are half size of a racing aluminum radiator.

PBM is a 15-20 minute drive so i was able to go buy all the shit from their storefront. all together this equipment actually has 2 purposes, 1 to bleed your coolant system and the other to provide a port for a temp sensor.
my story is different because i have the yashio factory temp gauge which plugs into the consult port so i didnt have to fuck with screwing in a temp gauge. you could still get it just to use as a swirl pot but youll still need the adapther.
is it useful? fuuuuck yes. it was probably one of my most favorite mods (although my list is small.) i bled my engine so fucking much and it still had air in it. to the point where i bought the damn hood spacers in the hopes to provide 'extra cooling' and even swapped out my thermostat. but this thing is soo convenient!
