bump stop question:
well I was doing kyb AGX and RSRs and had to take the front to a shop since I broke some tools trying to take off the 17mm oblts (lol). Anyway they didn't put the stock bump stop back on, saying I don't need it, and it'll make my struts bottom out... I always thought the bump stops were there to stop it from bottoming out and destroying the struts.

opinion:

I'm looking at rota slips (16x7 13.5 lbs) they are nice but the offset is bit high, the guy at the shop (he owns 3-4 240s) and swears 16x7 +40 will rub, in addition to looking crappy (sunken in)... he's trying to sell me some 5zigen FC 01rc 17s (the only size w/ correct bolt pattern and offset for my s14)... he's giving me a good price though (I think), the spec is 4x114.3 35+ offset 17x7 if i'm correct.

of course the rotas are cheaper.

thanks, need some help/opinions

Haha, the 5zigens being the same width and 5mm further out will make a HUGE difference.

heeh no doubt, but for extra $200, is it worth it? will 16x7 rub in +40? Also I've been looking at koseis, so that might be in the picture too.

It wont rub the agx, but it would if you got coilovers.

Get a kosei or a wider 5zigen.

what about the bumpstops? Were they right in leaving those out? If not I might have to go put those back in.

you should leave the bumpstops IN and cut them down approximately 1"...it takes about 15 seconds with a utility knife. This way, you'll have SOME protection from bottoming out.

And Duffman was joking on your wheels. 17x7 +35 is really no different/cooler than 16x7 +40. They will both not be flush.

Like uiuc240 said, the shop definitely should have left some sort of bump stop in there.
I say forget the rotas and forget the fn01rcs and get some used 16*8s or 17*8s from somewhere/someone else.

you can get bumpstops from anywhere. Even the junkyard. Just put them on, they'll help extend the life of your struts. I have 7inch wide wheels with a +10 offset, which is very flush in my opinion. get something in the low 20s or teens for a 7in wide wheel.
