total noob quistions but i got a s13 coupe in a trade and i plan on daily driving it. one of the previous owners was obviouly into drifting and has plenty of aftermarket parts on it but my stupid quistion is the whole front end is loosely thrown togather, the carbon fiber hood is only on by the front 2 pins so it would fly off instead of hitting and dinging the roof AGAIN, the fenders are held on by 3 of the top bolts and the front bumper is held on with zipties. now i do plan on learning to drift after i fix my other civic but will this be ok for daily driving? and is this normal practice for drifters or was the last owner just lazy? lol i feel like a total retard for asking but o well. what can i say. im a honda boy. pics of the car will be up soon too. deff a must see!

Would you feel safe driving around in a car that has loose parts? Answer that question and then work accordingly.

lol sorry im not your typical ricer honda boy. i acutally had a clean 8th gen civic with all FACTORY lips and visors.... no hellaflush or any of that bullshit. now the 240 on the other hand is totally rice. lol its bright purple and has a pink roll cage for god sake! but like i said before it was for drifting so you guys may like it... had tein tie rod ends and ungraded knuckles but he ended up taking them and using them off and selling them but it still has all the other aftermarket parts.so first things first im ordering either godspeed or tein inner and outer tie rod ends, and shortening the knuckles... o and painting the dumb ass cage! lol

i feel totaly safe with the way the panels are its been drivin around everywhere and hasnt had a problem. i acutally like the front bumber being like that cuz its lower than im used to and going into parking lots it doesnt get AS scraped up...i knew this would be a :newbie: bash but i was just wondering if others do this also or not?

this is not a silly question. actually we leave a lot more stuff loose. when you get really hardcore drifter boy style, you actually leave lug nuts loose so when your doing a super dope drift they fly off. in japan they try and hit targets with their wheels.

You haven't had the real drifter boy experience until loosen your motor mounts and you tranny mount.. Everytime you shift and accelerate will be an adventure.

What happened to the 8th gen civic? I really do like that gen civic, even if it is a non-Si, unless you have a better daily, I would've just kept it cuz 240s are not expensive, but even stupidly harder to find a clean and reliable one.

Treat your 240sx like you would to your "clean" 8th gen civic...unless ur rocking Megans on your civic as well :bash:

the hydrolic tensioner failed and made it jump timing on the peice of shit moter that i got 6 months ago and the insurance wouldnt do anything about it cuz the warrenty on their peice of shit moter was over by 12 days. WTF! so im getting a lawsuit against them and now im stuck without a car. so i traded one of my other civics for the 240. and no i didnt skimp on any of the parts on it. it has skunk2 proS series coils on it... heres a pic of it if your interested. http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/members/33045-albums2297-picture31781.jpg if not :mephfawk:

when the warrantee runs out, they are not liable for the motor, suing them will not help...

also, 1. bolt down the panels, 2. READ, there is more information on this site alone than you can imaging. And this, contrary to public opinion, isn't the only site out there...

Good luck

when you learn that you can actually do all the research yourself, then you become the asshole when a noob asks...whats better..sr or ka-t

shit like that pops up as much as build threads that have a pic of the car when the person bought it with a list of "future" mods....

Zilvia is too busy to have people BS on here. cmon...there's like 500 or some odd pages of just sick wheel fitment. Any other car forum is maybe up to 50 pages. The people that are on here everyday killing time, don't want to see some BS post like this. We want to see you learn, and grow...and become a member to society...not a child that we have to spoon feed every time you run into a problem posting new shit on this thread.

I'm here to help..but at the same time...a child needs to grow.

well you could try and bolt the front bumper and as for the hood is it even bolted to the hinges? fenders should be ok are they even wiggly?

Hey guys! I just ducttaped my engine to the chassis because it looks like racecar. You guys think its safe to go out and drag race some civics on the highway? I also dont have any tires at the monent but the rims are in good shape so im sure a few highway pulls wont hurt anything.

jacobzking
06-12-2012, 06:27 PM
Sorry OP... a lot of people here are dicks, but its kind of what makes this forum "special." Most forums would ban people left and right, and censor out cuss words.

Anyway, as its been said, bolt the shit down. My bumper is zip tied on, but I only drive the car on a track. If your fenders are bolted down correctly, you could leave the bumper on with zip ties. But if you park on a curb and back out, you may leave the bumper behind.

Secure the hood. That could cause a deadly accident on the freeway.

FWIW... I too am a Honda boy. My first car was a CRX Si, and I love no car like I loved my NSX. But I guess owning an NSX still makes me a Honda Boi Ricer. :duh: Oh well.

Ehh it should be ok for a couple of pulls. I would reinforce the tranny mount to the windshield to be safe though. As for tires, just wrap some cardboard around them so they dont get scratches. Good luck man!

Btw 07sitos13, post pics of the car!

Good call!!! Tranny mount to windshield is a must! I cant believe i almost forgot that, i could have ended up with a broken headlight. Ill go do some pulls now and ill report back to let you know how my night in the morgue went.

Dat morgue lol

The morgue called and said they could not accept my body because i was too alive. They also mentioned that the only way ill end up dead on the road was if i had my hood, front bumper or fenders come off my car because they arent strapped to the chassis properly. I guess i should just do what the op is doing, drive with nothing attached properly. I knew i fucked up somewhere, even the cardboard tires didnt help.
