Hey all, I need a new sub to push with my alpine mrd500 v12 amp. I have a nice 1sq ft ported encloser for a single 10. My local car audio spot is having a killer deal ($100ea) for their latest Xtant hewagonal 10's. It a 500w RMS sub that I have heard hits tight, just like I like it.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a single 10 that would work well with my setup? Does anyone have any experience with these Xtants?

You get what you pay for. Remember that not all subs are created equally. For the best, I'd go with JL or Image Dynamics.

yeah, you pay for quality. I have acually heard people compare these Xtants to $400+ subs! And no it wasnt the guy at the shop tryin to sell them to me.

i have an Xtant A-some number, but its a 12". i think that xtant is pretty clean sounding but it sounds highly similar to MTX Thunder 4000 subs which are A lot cheaper.

I have that exact sub in my car, sounds great, as long as you have a nice amp it'll sound great. And it sounds similar to the MTX subs because they are the same company....

MUAHAHAHAHA!!!That's my sub!!! I have the X1044 which is the 4ohm dual voice coil model. Two actually. I have them hooked up to a JL Audio 500/1 monoblock amp. It's sooooooooooo clean. The box is 1.0cubic foot(before displacement) sealed. It gets about as loud as my friends JL 12W3's(not the V2's). His are in a larger ported box. I can't remember how large but the box wasn't designed for those subs so I'd take that with a grain of salt. I did have only one hooked up to the amp with the gains set to about half-3/4 of the way(I never go higher for fear of clipping). It got LOUD!!!! Although still clean. 500watts RMS is a good range to keep it but I can handle more power. Overall the only complaint I have with them is that they are TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE. But if you can get them for $100 GO FOR IT!!! Oh, and they are damn heavy too. Heavier than the JL 12's my friend has.
May I ask what the port is tuned to for that box?

yea kook wrong forum...anyway....
1.0 ported box?? thas kinda small man for 10"...
Kicker L5 kicks aasss!!
<-----10" L5 in a 2.27' Ported box!! people think its 2 twelves...and i was only pushin 300watts. i hit 134.5...not bad for my first time using a Lightning Audio Bolt amp.
but....that wouldnt work 4 u cuz it square and to be ported at that size the L5 would sound like shit.
yea i would jump on it i guess...or audiobahn excursion or natural excursion sub..both are nice

I have an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10 inch powered by a Bazooka ELA500.1 wich is 500RMS and 700 peak amp....and I love it!!! ....Beautiful bass reproduction really! Hits harder than my brothers 2 fosgate HE 10's,and my freinds MTX Thunder 400 12....Crutchfield is running a deal where if you buy the sub,you get the box free...and the box fits perfectly into the rear passenger corner of my FB :)
EDIT:Unported enclosure....should I port it?
