Just came up on a Hicas/JDM sway bar (both are the same) and am pondering whether I should install it, or sell it and get a set of swaybars (whiteline or tanabes).

If anyone is running the Hicas bar, I would love to hear you impressions and comments. Thanks.

depends on what your jdm sways are...
i believe front ones are the same for all,
stock rear sways are 15mm
old jdm hicas are 17mm
newer jdm hicas/usdm hicas 21mm
i have the 17mm, and incredibly, the 2mm does make a difference, eliminates understeer by a bit... wish i have the 21mm though, better yet, wish i have the largus sways, huge mf's...

I got the 21mm one. Dam that suckers huge compared to my current one. I might be steering away from getting really huge sway bars now that I have spent some time researching this.

It's nice to hear that your 17mm one made a difference. I'm going to put this thing on later today. Anyone else running this cheap-o mod? I'll let you guys know by the end of the day how it is. I'm also running Tein HE coilovers, and front and rear strut bars, so we'll see how much of a difference this makes.

fuckin A guys, this thing is tizzzight! hehe. I just slapped it on, and since I was able to pull off everything with the swaybar, I used the newer bushings. The car was a 92. I have to say that I am very impressed. The car feels like it wants to steer itself into the turn. The back end is also very smooth, and more predictable. All signs of understeer completely gone. (Well, I do have Teins, struts bars, and rear subframe bushings too...) Can't beat it for 26 dollars though. And to think I almost missed it. Saw it at pick-n-pull, and the car had been stripped almost to the bone. Saw the Super Hicas decal on the rear and thought nothing of it. Until I realized, shieet! The sway bar and rear end! Luckily it was still there. (BTW the diff is still there) Checked it out, yep VLSD! yes six bolt pattern! very nice condition too. Anyone wanna offer me money to grab it for them? hehe If not, I'm gonna grab it for my next 240. just not really motivated to get it right now because it's a biiotch to take off.

also did a comparison on swaybars since I was installing a shit load of stuff into my cousin's car. hicasbar vs stock vs whiteline, rear bars.

next thing is to get some polyuerethane for the front and rear sway bars. That should keep me happy for awhile

just a random shots.

a side note: I was also able to drive my cousin's car, (teins HE, cusco front and rear strut bars, white line front and rear swaybars, and SPL upper camber arms) that compared to my setup, I have the hicas rear bar, and subframe spacers, is very very similar.

another side note: SPL parts rear upper arms OWN Project Silvia rear arms. :rl: no debate.http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid103/p36f4c9a478b9056087f779b3612703b4/f9a34992.jpg My Project Silvia arms ran out of adjustment, while his SPL parts arms have soo much more, plus they are way beefier, and nicer. DAM! gots to go and buy new arms now. :duh:

edit: hehe wtf is this?

a little off subject here and since you've mentioned, what exactly does the rear upper arm suppose to do? Is it just for camber adjustment for the rear wheel due to lowering? I'm still learning what all these suspension components do, like the upper arm, traction rod, toe control arm...

I know, I went completely off topic too. But I didn't feel like starting a new thread. Yes, the rear arm adjusts camber.

And they're the cheaper SPL upper arms too! :mepoke:
I was thinking about getting some rear upper arms but the camber is just where I want it with the stock arms, so maybe later...

Look at all the threads on that shock! :eek3: Tell your cousin to lower it more!!

:cough: :cough: TF ones are the same and cheaper :cough: :cough:

I got the JDM bar (21mm) and it made a big difference, feels great taking turns, next up is tein tie rods, testing em out when I go Ice racing this weekend :), put the spacers to work :D.

I have a 21mm bar with jic endlinks. very nice. Feels much better than the super small worthless stock bar. It is very nice to have the adjustablity for the street considering sway bars are the easiest way to change vehicle.

hey nismofeind, did the endlinks make a substantial difference when adjusted? I pondered those before I put in the hicas bar, but looked at my puny rear bar and decided not too. Now I might.
