Hey! I wanted to knoq if anyone could give me some advice to make my stock 240sx handbrake to lock the rear wheels... I did adjusted it in the little knob under the handbrake but it still didn't lock... I think that maybe the lines may be bad but since there are not much stock lines, I found these and wanted to know what you guys think about it: Rear Brake Lines for Nissan 240sx 89-98 S13 S14 (http://www.240sxmotoring.com/24rebrlifor2.html)

Also, about the brake pads maybe changing to some that will let me drift which are not project mu d1 spec (maybe ill buy it further on) that is reasonable on price and have nice friction to lock wheels?

Thanks!!

The ebrake is cable operated, it is separate from the hydraulic brake system.

Your cables might be stretched too far to be adjusted tight enough to lock the wheels while moving.

Hmm, anywhere i can find the 3 cables for the handbrake? front RR and RL?

A huge factor in this is the brake pads, and how much intitial "bite" they have. Project Mu d1 pads have a lot of this. Keep in mind you can always brake slightly to unload the rear end or turn in a bit when you pull to help it along, but it's still asking a lot of the factory system to lock the rear wheels. Although I've noticed for some reason I have much less trouble locking them on the track than anywhere else, maybe just cause I'm driving a lot harder.

but i mean, i adjusted the cable and pulled as hard as i could, pressed the clutch going at a mid speed (40kph) turned a lil bit, pulled ebrake as hard as possibleand nothing happened... just slowed down

If i were going to have a stock brake setup i would at least a hydro brake. I love my z32 setup with projec mu shoes though! Never looked back after spending the money.

Since you adjusted it all the way, make sure they arnt now dragging.
Slotted rotors will help expel the gasses created by high temps which increases contact patch of the pads and ebc green stuff pads are cheap and have a quick bite but can fade with lots of heat.

I have a feeling your not going to find a good cheap setup without at least wasting money along the way. Your best off just saving up and getting something good the first time.

the only way you will lock up the rears in a straight line is with a hydro e brake. i have a stock e brake and i had the same issue. i tried pulling it to enter and it didnt do a thing. then i bought d1 pads and once they are heated up very good they can lock up going into a corner. also you will find it much easier to lock up the rears once you break them loose. try choku dori into e brake entry. works best for me every time.

^^^My stock s13 e-brake locks my back wheels fine in a straight line. it locks up fine at the track and going in a straight line, AND im using shitty duralast brake pads.

S13 ebrakes are the suck.

I've had cars like Nikkos above where it just works even with the shittest components.

But I've also had to replace all the cables, calipers THEN run projectMUs to the ebrakes to lock.

Its totally effing lame but I must say the PMUs are excellent. I should have just done that in the first place on my car that wasn't cooperating. However they produce SO MUCH BRAKE DUST white wheels turn gunmetal. Lame

hmm see, i feint to drift, but it seems my cables or pads are shit cause when its raining it will lock, or when im trying to continue the drift it also will lock... so maybe is the pads or ebrake cables, ill try both

Guys, may i point out that S13 handbrake setup does NOT use pads, but internal shoes ?

you really dont need handbrake to initiate a drift, just give a sudden turn on the steering immediately followed by a hard tap on the brakes, it will rotate.

normally would the RL and RR cables stretch or the front cable, the one attached to the handbrake?? and which should i get, ebc green stuff or yellow stuff? or which other will you guys recommend??

I just bought a 240 and the guy had a drift button on the ebrake, but ive never delt with those. I may have fucked it up and have no clue to fix it, the button it kind of popped out and the ebrake wont even engage:bite: anymore lol.

Nathan, just put back the button, it hold with a little bit of pressure. To use it for parking, you have to lift the handbrake lever and pull out the button.

Me neither, brand new pads, new rotors even with gktech extender and ajustement, still no lock. Dont loose your time and money like me, just save up for a hydro ebrake kit. Lock guaranteed :)

It's comforting to be reminded that in the past, most people were also stupid, couldn't drive, and didn't understand physics.

So happy we brought back this 8 year old thread. For this...
