Does anybody know if there is a mounting kit made for a double dinn head unit for the s14? The head unit that I want is double dinn and was just wondering if there is already a double dinn kit made or do I have to fabricate one myself. thanks.

well, take out your stereo and look. I have a 92, and the is a bracket on each side that has four holes , 2 for the pocket, and 2 for the HU. I would guess that a double din Unit has 4 holes, instead of the songle Din haveing 2.on each side. I really hope this makes sense. I dunno what the opening in an S14 is, though.

With any double dinn nissan, or pretty much an japanese car, you need no mounting kit - the stereo bolts right up to the stock braket, even uses stock screws. Japanese car + Japanese headunit = perfect fit. It is American cars that need the PITA kits. Oh, and don't go through crutchfield, they are a ripoff. Find a small local stereo shop and bargain. Or find the model you want, then type it into google with "compare prices" and it will bring up a few sites that list a variety of legit companies tha carry the units at probably a hundred or so less dollars that crutchfield.

I'd recommend finding a model number you like on crutchfield, then surfing ebay for a wholesaler selling them new. you'll get it a lot closer to cost than you will from any local shop. Last time I really researched new head units, they were retailing at about 30% above cost, should give you an idea of what's a good deal. Also, new units come out in springtime. Usually all of the big companies have their new stuff out by march or april, so by waiting you can either get the newest coolest radio, or get an even better deal on closeout models when the new ones are released. I was a car audio installer at the local best buy for 4 years, and yes, a double din will fit in your car very easily.
