Drilling isnt the hard part, drilling straight in without fucking up the ball is another.

Please explain how I'm an idiot. A drill, a ceramic/glass bit, a nut with the same thread pitch as your shift handle, and some epoxy is all it takes to make a shift knob out of a pool ball. If people are dumb enough to spend 45 dollars on one then that's just pathetic.

You planning on holding the ball with your bare hands and drill away? You forget the fact not everyone has access to these tools and resources. If you're so smart why don't you make your own pool ball knobs and take advantage of these "pathetic" people who are willing to pay money for it.

Okay, and a vice. I did make my own, wrapped the ball in rags, clamp in vice, drill pilot hole, drill larger hole w ceramic/glass bit, epoxy nut in place. Voila. Pool ball shifter, and I don't need money, so I dont need to capitalize on making them. I just think this is a very very basic mod/skill that should not be very hard for any so called "car guy" to complete
