As long as you have a riveting tool you can always swap the vins on dash.
But this is a great idea for wheels, exhaust, w/e case maybe that can be stolen and sold back on the market.

I can make them in any size and font so hiding it on parts, wheels etc would be very simple. Riveting or super gluing / JB weld would work well.

Why wouldn't this be legal?
Could you use this in the wrong way? I don't really think so.. If you are driving around with a different dash with the wrong VIN wouldn't that be more of a problem? The VIN on the motor on everyone's swaps would also be wrong. This is just a way to correct that and get the same VIN on all of your parts to be legit.
Plus if someone did steal your car and later on you find your parts they would have matching VINs to your car and registration.

What if they just tear your original VINs off and not replace them with anything?
Or go to the junk yard steal VINs off of a car there and use them on your car.
I understand people can find ways to do the wrong thing but that's not what I’m promoting here.

This just screams trouble. As far as I'm aware this modification is a felony in many states, classified as VIN tampering.

Well then every dash swap would be illegal, you're displaying a VIN that isn't for that car.
Come on people, give it a rest. What you do with it is your business. He's merely providing a product.
+1 for awesome work as usual.

Criminal Resource Manual 1364 Altering or Removing Motor Vehicle Identification Numbers (http://www.justice.gov/usao/eousa/foia_reading_room/usam/title9/crm01364.htm)
Did you read the link you posted?
Section 511(b) of Title 18 creates exceptions for certain persons who engage in lawful conduct that may result in removal or alteration of an identification number.
As long as you're putting the same VIN back on the car you're fine.

Its funny people illegally modify their cars all the time with performance parts but everyone gets upset over these identification plates? If you think you are going to get in trouble by putting this on your dash then don’t buy one lol. But I’m sure if I told you it would add 50hp no one would have an issue slapping one of these on their cars.
I’m only trying to come up with original items to help make these cars look better. Before making this thread I’ve had lots of people request these made for their dashes and other parts.
Finally if your VIN number is missing from your dash and you would like a number engraved on a plate that matches what your car VIN is then I can help you. I’m not making up VIN numbers and selling them. I’m only offering an engraving service; what you do with it is again up to the consumer as always.

I believe in CA it is illegal. IIRC the chp issues you a new vin plate if you replace your dash and puts it in the door jamb. I should know because thats what my car has. Not trying to shit on your thread just letting you guys know.

In New York you are responsible for swapping the VIN #'s on your dash if you change it so it would not be illegal here. I've had the Inspector ask why it wasn't switched on a friends car.
This is an *awesome* idea! I hope the sales here do well and you come out with more original and useful ideas instead of the same old stuff we've seen here a thousand times with new branding on it. Disregard the people saying that this is illegal and crying about it since they don't have any modifications on their car, and most likely would not need this service. I don't personally need a plate right now, but if you were around about 4 years ago with this then I would have hit you up for my mangled/mismatched s13 for sure.
I think it would benefit your sales to post a few font examples for people who aren't familiar with a lot of fonts. I'd suggest something stock-looking, a digital clock style font, some kind of fancy but legible script font, and maybe a graffiti / urban style font to start with. If you already have several orders with similar font requests, maybe post up the popular one(s) too. Good luck!

I rececntly visited the chp and personally asked about the vin #. I told them that mine was missing because i swapped the dash and he told me to not worry about it, that is there just to make it easier for the cop, as long as the other engraved vin #'s are all there. He than said its up to the cop what to do with the ticket he can either write you up or just let you go and not be lazy to check in the door jam.

The number plates displayed in the site were looking very glorious and also the price of them is affordable. I am using currently a number plates which are with gold background and black letters, My car is in black colour. Which colour best suits for my car in your idea and what about the time taken for you to provide me new laser number plates. Please produce some attachments regarding my requirement.
