R33 Gauge Cluster In S14
I attempted to do this installation via the guide listed on NICO

However, there are inconsistancies with which plug, what color and the number of wires listed as well as some wires on either end (cluster or car) are not listed at all.

I currently have the following signals connected, according to the guide listed above, I also varified most of them by following the traces on the blue circuit board.

GRND (2 wires)
2P (2 wires)
IGN
FM
T/R
T/L
TM
TAM
ILL + (2 wires)
ILL - (2 wires)

deciphered as to their purpose.

GRND - Ground (Common grounds)
2P - Speedometer (Input signal, speedometer gauge) [2 WIRES]
BAT - 12v Constant (For S14 in-cluster clock)
IGN - Ignition
FM - Fuel Meter (Input signal for fuel gauge)
CHG - Charge (Indicator, charging/battery issue)
T/R - Turn Right (Indicator, right)
T/L - Turn Left (Indicator left)
TM - Temp Meter (Input signal for coolant temp gauge
BRK - Brake (Indicator, lamp for brake issue/brake lamp failure)
FUEL - Fuel (Indicator, low fuel)
BEAM - Brights (Indicator, high beam headlamps)
TAM - Tachometer (Input signal, tachometer gauge)
BELT - Seatbelt (Indicator, driver seatbelt not secured)
OIL - Oil (Indicator, low oil)
AIRBAG - Airbag (Indicator, restrainsystem complication)
DOOR - Door Ajar (Indicator, open door)
Check ENG - Check Engine (Indicator, ODBI/II complication)
ILL + - Illumination + (Positive voltage for dash lighting circuit) [2 WIRES]
ILL - - Illumination - (Negative voltage for dash lighting circuit) [2 WIRES] {Two specific ground wires}
EXH - Exhaust Overheat (Indicator, abnormal temp of catylst)
OM - Oil Meter (Input signal for oil pressure gauge)
WASH - Washer Fluid (Indicator, low washer fluid)


A lot of that is a re-post off the web but it seems to be right but with the tach and speedo.


The engine that's in my S14 is a 2jzgte.. Cant get it to move...

Cant get the tach to move with the Dakota boxs, There are 2 wires coming off the 2jz that could be used as a tach I Believe.

pin E10- 16 (Tach)
pin E9- 58 (IGF)

Maby I need to run them both into the Dakota box? The Dakota is showing its getting a signal From both wire's... If I try to wire the Gauge to the IGF with out using the box it trys to kill the car?

SideNote: Seen someone post this "careful tapping into IGF or IGT. If the tach impedance is too low, it will pull the signal low, and teh car won't run"

Sounds like my problem.. So maby I have the Dakota settings wrong?

From What I understand I need to have the setting on...

#1 (ECM tach signal)
#2 (Low volt tach signal)
#3 (OFF)
#4 (ON)
And Use output 2 Running to the Gauge Cluster.

Tach signal can be tapped into at the 4-pin igniter pin 1. It should be a solid black wire. Who did your harness conversion?
